I am hearing from scared folks around the country & I *think* this is also true of California, NY, Colorado, Minnesota and other 'trans safe' states.However,I'm not gonna to share that as fact till it's verified to me {as my reliable & knowledgeable NM sources continue to keep me updated here}.

Likewise, here in New Mexico, STATE prisons and jails continue to be incarcerating trans folks with their authentic gender, not 'gender at birth'.

But folks are sharing with me their fears about these state docs because of what we are learning about the current state of Fed docs. Unfortunately social media 'influencers' and rumor are perpetuating these fears.

So, for example, here in New Mexico, you can absolutely & with safety continue to go right ahead & get or update gender & name markers on Drivers Licence, state ID, the REAL ID versions of those & birth certificates (if you were born in NM for birth cert}. Are these a passport? No. That's federal.

Important to know at this really hard moment when social media & rumor can spin out of control:
State agencies , documents, incarceration/prisons and so on are not {currently} under federal control.
