(1/5) The 2025 transportation bill was designed to balance the need for safe roads with the strain we all feel from rising costs. It was a carefully crafted, heavily negotiated package supported by nearly every key transportation stakeholder. #ORleg #ORpol buff.ly/c3j0WBS

This is the scene at the Portland ICE facility right now where the Trump admin wants to send hundreds of National Guard troops to protect federal workers and property.
I’m at the launch of Oregon’s design competition for sunlight suite buildings - neighborhood-scale mulifamily buildings designed around one central staircase.
“This is one of those innovations whose time has come,” says Gil Kelley of @1000oregon.bsky.social.
"So, Democrats have three words for this: no fucking way. It's literally life or death. We will not let Republicans blow up our health care system."
This is, hands down, the best comms work Chuck Schumer has done in YEARS. Surprisingly good.
Oregonians have showed up peacefully, calmly, and united against Trump’s abuse of the Constitution, and we will continue to do so. Our communities are not military training grounds; our neighbors are not enemy combatants.
The clearest, most on-point comment about the shutdown I’ve heard so far. Some angry rants make us smarter and sharper. This is one of them.

Like the 84-year-old woman who was attacked by fed goons today said, “People have to know that we are not Antifa. We’re just regular Portlanders who love our city, and my husband, being a Vietnam veteran, is incensed that we’re talking about war within our own country. This is outrageous, really.”
Blasting nonviolent 19-year-olds point blank with pepper spray, assaulting octogenarian veterans with walkers. Beyond shameful. I’m grateful we have some fantastic journalists in Oregon who are unflinchingly reporting this madness.

Are you a knitter or crocheter like me? It's another industry Convicted Felon Donald Trump is trying to fuck up. A number of yarn shops struggle to survive. Tariffs will close many of them.
Are we winning yet?

Transportation Update thread: As my punny colleague Rep Nosse… “sometimes the road is messy.” No one wants to have to pass a tax vote, but that’s the work of governing, keeping our roads usable and our families safe. To do that in the most accountable and thoughtful way possible is the goal. (1/5)
I count my lucky stars that I to get to watch this body work up close every day, leading with grace and vulnerability. It’s powerful, and beautiful, and — with some notable exceptions — unrecognizable from the ugly machismo politics reported from DC.

I really want to give you the benefit of the doubt and engage here, but some of your language—“lifestyle, “choice,” misgendering athletes—is giving me pause. Instead I’ll just say: have you read the article? You should really read the article.
This piece has really stuck in my craw for the past couple of days. Our state and country will be poorer for losing Ada Gallagher. Thanks for introducing me to this lovely, brilliant human, @billoram.bsky.social

“Terrible things are happening outside. Poor helpless people are being dragged out of their homes. Families are torn apart. Men, women, and children are separated. Children come home from school to find that their parents have disappeared.”

Wisconsin's Supreme Court race is now the most expensive court race in U.S. history — largely due to donations from out-of-state billionaires.
As Justice Louis Brandeis said, we can have great wealth in the hands of a few, or we can have democracy, but we can't have both.

While tidal waves of cruelty and chaos slam us from the Trump administration, Oregon Dems focus on making life better—and more affordable—for Oregonians. More of this please.
This session Oregon House Democrats are fighting to make utilities more affordable for Oregonians. One of our proposals has a public hearing tomorrow in the Commerce & Consumer Protection Committee — learn more about the Fair Energy Act here:

This week, two federal judges issued injunctions against Pres. Trump's attempt to change the definition of who can be a US citizen. I'm grateful for AG Dan Rayfield's @doj.oregon.gov work on this case and his commitment to defending our constitutional rights #ORpol

I hear you, but it’s not about their feelings (which I agree can fuck off into the sun). It’s about what kind of people we want to be. Like, SP will never see this post, but conventionally unattractive people like me will. This shit doesn’t hurt their feelings, it hurts *us*
So the world’s richest man, who grew up under apartheid in South Africa and now pulls the mentally deteriorating incoming U.S. president’s strings, has written an op-ed urging Germans to elect a neo-Nazi government. Got that?
I detest Sarah Palin’s politics and opening the floodgates of racism and hate speech in the American electorate to my core. That said:
1. Can we please be better than picking on public figures’ appearance; and
2. She’s 100% right to call out use of the R-slur
No U.S. states mandate that law enforcement officers take active shooter training annually. In comparison, at least 37 states require active shooter-related drills in schools, typically on a yearly basis.
