I think there's a big difference in the types of stories, though. Andor, like ST, also didn't suffer, because you had a continuing storyline that people want to see resolved. Mandalorian was like X-Files; lots of standalone adventures with a a scattering of "lore" eps.

I honestly think it's the huge amount of time between seasons that's the problem. It's really hard to maintain enthusiasm when you're just getting pieces of a story like this, and a lot of episodes feel like treading water anyway. Plus, it never felt like it was actually building up to a movie.

Sinners was great all around, but it's kind of sad that part of what made it feel great was that it's an all-original film that we used to get all the time and now is kind of a novelty.

I like the Two Jakes and saw it in the theater when it was released, but it's kind of a Phantom Menace situation. It definitely didn't live up to the hype going into it. But in hindsight, it's a perfectly good film. I really wish he had kept revisiting Jake Gittes every 15 years or so, though.
