Since I started doing more on energy and datacentres, I've become wary of how companies promote this. It's good they're investing in renewables but when they often say in the release that the renewable project power "x number of homes", my reaction is now - how many homes will it actually power?
Oh the outage was a DDoS attack?
Also a very weird unit lol
I bring a sort of Forbidden Vibe to InternalServerError that Rate Limit Exceeded don't really like
trying to post through it rn
Just realised it's gonna get worse when the worst millennials are in high office (JD Vance is a millennial I know but just a weird unit already) www.theguardian.com/us-news/2026...
Ahh should have assumed Francis would have caused a similar reaction
Greg has been saying Trump is in the wrong here, tbf. Said the Jesus picture and attacks on Leo are "nearly deranged"
COMMENTARY Pope Leo is guilty of repudiating the "just war' doctrine That our government has urged Israel to stand down confirms its moral evasiveness; that Pope Leo has done likewise is grievous. By HENRY ERGAS COLUMNIST
THE AUSTRALIAN~ The church's refusal to condemn Hitler's genocidal war of aggression indelibly stained its reputation.
It's very funny that Trump has made the Australian publish anti-Catholic columns for maybe the first time ever, using arguments I used to use as a teen militant atheist.
I mean as a single story that leads on that.
The most difficult part of being a student journo is trying to get people to agree to speak to you (also sometimes an issue when you're in a job).
I did some stories for 2SER when I was studying and it made it *much* easier to get a foot in, and also figure out how the buttons and dials work.
A lot of the ones I see that pop up in my alerts are self-represented litigants, often in family court battles (another reason why I don't do stories on them) but yes plenty of lawyers too.
I've basically stopped pitching stories on when people are caught using AI in Australian courts now but a site that is tracking them says there are at least 73.

Photo of Gary Stark: A white man, bald on top with a huge white beard and much white hair at the side and the back of his head. He’s looking into the camera, with a smile, and smiling eyes. He is not Karl Marx.
Veteran Australian tech journalist and broadcaster Gary Stark passed away on Sunday aged 73 after a long decline in his health. @leighlo.bsky.social has put together a beautiful memorial at dad.leighlo.com.
The funeral is tomorrow, Thursday, at Rockwood. Leigh or I have the details, by DM I guess.
"Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year," the card reads, with signatures presumably from Trump and Melania.
Someone FOI'ed direct correspondence between the PM and Trump. Only got a Christmas card :( (the listing says partial release) www.pmc.gov.au/sites/defaul...

For a while they would send out "junior Friyay" and "Friyay" emails on Thurs and Friday.
Yes this particular firm always has some variation of this that feels like AI
I hope your TOOSYAYY is off to a good start, even though the price of petrol has just gone up again! I am keen to seek your interest in a timely and profile yarn about the nation's declining birth rates. Jim Penman is investing millions of dollars into the issue to help solve the problem. Jim is the famous founder of Jim's Group and he is sounding the alarm on what he calls the greatest threat to humanity: collapsing birth rates. In his explosive new book Birth-rate Crisis, Penman argues governments have it all wrong, saying the issue isn't financial but biological, driven by dopamine addiction rewiring modern brains against family life.
