On Monday I verbally declared a disaster emergency for the Schwachheim Fire near Trinidad. Now over 1,000 acres and growing near Lake Dorothey SWA, this allows us to mobilize more resources to support firefighters protecting lives, property, and natural resources. Monitoring closely.

Trump Administration tariff hikes are raising costs for Coloradans, straining our state budget, and shifting burdens to states and families. Colorado is stepping up—balancing our budget, lowering costs, and protecting essential services.

While the Board of Trustees appointed Heather J. Shotton as president in 2025, last week marked her official investiture—an important milestone for the Durango campus community.
