Morass?
Worrying to say the least. Interesting to read Zona's interview with a copy editor. I, too, have learned a lot from working with one.
Unimaginable riches await this child.
Fascinating interview about what it was like to work on 1960s Doctor Who.
I tried Itch but didn't make any sales over a period of several months.
I'm considering trying Payhip. How have you found it in terms of usability, prompt payment, etc.?
The paw of control/retribution.
Wonderful news!
Yes, that sounds right. I now recall that it was something to do with their payment handler not allowing such content. It didn't directly affect me, but it was a red flag anyway, so...
I found Itch easy to use but I didn't see any ebook sales over a several-month period. Then they introduced some unfriendly policies (honestly, I cannot remember what) so I bailed. I think their business is mostly driven by creators uploading online games.
Does anyone know what happens to funds accrued but not paid out yet if you close your Draft2Digital account? @draft2digital.bsky.social ? Am I going to lose what little I've earned this year because yet another business has turned out to be greedy and dishonest?
Introducing an annual maintenance fee for low-selling authors (i.e. with net annual sales below $100) is a *nasty* thing to do, @Draft2Digital, because it punishes those who earn least from their sales. I suggest you think again, or you will inevitably suffer a lot of reputational damage.
What devilry is this?
Also, increasing the walls' sound and thermal insulation.
The image says, "PRISON SENTENCE FOR ISRAELIS, DEATH SENTENCE FOR PALESTINIANS." It also says, "Israel's death penalty bill is a reminder: this is illegal occupation, functioning as intended," with the OXFAM logo below.
Make some noise. Share this post. 🚨
The Israeli government has granted itself another means to dehumanise, suppress, and kill Palestinians. Israel is violating international law.
Consolidating previous gains, or some such rubbish.

Lyndon Polan’s graphite artwork for Missing Meriel is beautiful and a perfect match to the story, as it is for each of the stories in this issue.
I’m delighted to announce that my short story Missing Meriel has been published in Issue no.1 of @thefifthcorner.bsky.social. The editor has arranged the 6 stories (free to read) so that “each ... alters the one that follows it”. So, please read them all, in order. thefifthcorner.ca/issue-no-1/
Slept in a Lush t-shirt and woke up sweet-smelling despite the colossal hangover.
Donald Trump lives.
I love a new writing project's R&D phase, when it's just me and my notebook (with some web-browsing). When I'm attempting to turn clouds into concrete. When I discover why I *need* to write this thing, not merely that I could. That I must.
If you think so-called AI can do that for you, think again.
Happy publication day!
The 3rd volume of Spec Fic for Newbies is out today, and we’ve done what we can (in the midst of family stuff and illness) to get the word out because we’re *proud* of this book. But the world is A LOT right now, and some ppl want AI instead, I’m so afraid the news & joy of it has been buried.
I never used to need naps. Now (at age ...), I am all about the naps.
Now open.
My annual @ALCS statement always elicits a smile. It's the closest thing I've ever found to a free money tree. If you're a writer and not a member, you ought to do something about that.
You are not.
Before-and-after green street transformation in Paris
Transformation of urban Square into forest in front of Paris City Hall
Street transformation of “School Street“ in central Paris, including greening
According to the City of Paris, in the last 10 years 150K trees have been planted, and 45ha of parks created in the already hot city, all intended to not only improve quality-of-life today, but also help the city adapt to & manage summer heatwaves of 50℃ (122F) by 2050.
Keep going with this, Paris.
