That sounds very promising 🥰

Genuinely sad. If ever a role was needed, it's that one
I don't think it was *specifically* rock! I think it was music artists in general. Prob mostly pop. But Pop Against Racism just doesn't have the same ring to it
Maybe you should do that job then? You are eay more well informed and I don't think I could hack the hours
Racism?
You just say "thank you" nicely. And maybe take them out for a nice lunch. You don't need to hand over all your power.
(I think I should be an advisor. On how senior politicians need to deal with advisors)
Yes. Missed all of that. And the dawn of AIDs and all the hate that came with it, Section 21.
(And to clarify, Rock Against Racsim in and if itself was not the bad thing. It was all the racism they were rocking against)
Ah. Right. Sorry, when you said "ministerial appointment" I assumed you meant appointment of cabinet ministers. Clearly not.
Am I right in thinking that such a senior role is given the same importance as a key cabinet position then? But that this this role is a civil servant? Or something else?
It's v clear that someone wanted him to have the role no matter what.
Personally, I think that the error is giving all the power to an advisor. You'd have thought lessons would have been learnt from Cummings. The advisor stops being an advisor and becomes the boss and gets IDEAS
I had no idea it was standard to announce someone on position before making sure there were no skeletons lurking in the cupboard. Because when any discovery is made it's jolly awkward all round to go "erm, actually no, X is not going get the role after all"
That all sounds very productive. And the nice food is jolly. It's my Friday and I went to booths (posh) and got chocolate éclairs and a bit of trout as a treat
I've replied to one of your replies. But it's a discussion, no? Rather than work.
You have insight and understanding about the civil service re ministers remit which I'm finding v useful and helpful
Confused. Which is the usual process bit that wasn't followed, versus the bit where they '"applied the usual process"(to a very unusual candidate' which meant vetting was less important?
I'm just seeing posts about the women cycling.
I'll keep scrolling...
Damn. I was hoping you would post a synopsis that I could comment on
Things I associate with the 80s: Thatcher, Miner's Strike, Falklands War, Poll Tax Riots, Rock Against Racism... It wasn't a great time looking at it from here
But I'm relying on you to unpack all the shenanigans so that *I* can have THOUGHTS and OPINIONS.
I've not had a single one today
*if I had carte blanched I would steal for my...
Apologies for terrible typos/autocorrect
But you have THOUGHTS. Amd OPINIONS
Yes, yes, mousies.
But what's today in the world of Westminster?
With you 100%. The mid-late 90s was my time, but they've been and gone and should stay there
I like Burnham Market! My parents lived about 8 miles south and we would often go there for tea and cake when was down visiting them. So I've many happy memories of outings there
Wonderful!!
Just seen this! It's fantastic news. I'm so pleased for you 🥰 Totally get the tears, but hopefully you've mopped up a bit now and eating celebratory magnums*
*other celebratory goodies are available and are acceptable alternatives
Breathtaking colour scheme. If I has carte blanched I would steal formy sitting room.
Nature is truly the best artist
The congealed fat sounds gross!
Very true!
I've never considered a fishfinger as breakfast item 🤔
I may have have a rethink
I LIKED the school version. The terrible white sliced bread, ketchup and mayo. Posh fishfinger sandwiches are a different being! It's the terrible white sliced bread that I can't replicate being gluten free. Hated it for everything else, but lived it for a fishfinger sandwich
Oh god. They fucked up all but one room in our hostel, leaving untold work. And to insult to injury, the deigner of the one good room - met brief and executed it to a good standard - was in the 3 up for elimation and was eliminated in the next episode. Fills me with the horrors
