This seems mad, and maybe only a thing in the US? In Australia, you cannot just sit anywhere. You buy a seat. That’s where you sit.

Even more poignant today than when it was released on this day in 2020. "Whisper in the night"- a song of hope in the darkness.
"Whispers in the Night" is a song for many moments. It is a song of hope when the day's ahead seems difficult, and the shadows are closing in.

I suspect there’s a very long list of “imagine if Obama or Biden had done something like this” things!
On this day, March 9th, 1847, palaeontology pioneer Mary Anning lost her battle with breast cancer at the age of 47. 😢
While she wasn't to know it, Mary's death wasn't the end of her story. bow, more than ever, people are becoming aware of her defiant curiosity and the remarkable life she lived. ✊
To the awesome humans I’m working with! ✊🏽 And their sisters in science!
Happy International Women’s Day!

Top, title of the published paper 'On the discovery of an almost perfect specimen of the Plesiosaurus by the Rev. W.D. Conybeare'; right, portrait of Conybeare; left, centre, the later published plate of the specimen showing is unexpectedly long neck; left, bottom, extract from a book by Gideon Mantell 'The specimen... was discovered and developed by the late Mary Anning, of Lyme Regis and purchased by the late Duke of Buckingham for (I believe) 105£ [it was £110]. I had the pleasure of being present when Mr Conybeare read the Memoir at the meeting if the Geological Society in Bedford Street, Covent Garden; the specimen was placed in the vestibule at the entrance, for want of room' [actually it was too big and too heavy to carry upstairs].
20 February 1824: William Conybeare reads his much-anticipated paper on #MaryAnning 's complete Plesiosaurus to a packed meeting of the Geological Society. Gideon Mantell recalled that the specimen was in the hallway. It was too big & heavy to carry up the narrow staircase to the meeting room.

Great news today that the geology collection at Lyme Regis Museum has been awarded Designated Status by Arts Council England. Not only does it occupy the site of #MaryAnning 's childhood home, but her spirit lives on in the museum's collecting and research.

Top left, portrait of Mary Anning in a green lock and straw bonnet and holding a hammer; bottom left, extract from 'Mary Anning, The Fossil Finder' published in 'All the Year Round' on 11 February 1865'; top right, Henry S. Fagan, the author of the article, sporting an impressive beard; bottom right, portrait of Charles Dickens, who edited the magazine, with somewhat unruly beard and hair.
The 11 February 1865 issue of All the Year Round, a magazine edited by Charles Dickens, carried an article about #MaryAnning. Often misattributed to Dickens and widely quoted, this inaccurate and unreliable article was by a Bath schoolmaster, Henry Fagan, who carelessly plagiarised earlier accounts.
Why does Mary Anning matter?

So, he watched it, and not Kid Rock? Bahahahahahahaha!
Do you know any of the lyrics of the songs they sang? 😂
It is, indeed, tragic, that it has come to this. But I think it has to happen more, and be even louder, as more Americans need to realise it. We had an event here in Australia recently where the US national anthem was sung at the start, and everyone booed. The US is no longer the light on the hill.
