Some analysts say that Trump’s tactics could backfire, strengthening and uniting Brics nations against his coercion, even if a Brics-sponsored currency remains far out of reach. sc.mp/l41ho?utm_so...

China has been intensifying efforts to isolate Taiwan diplomatically, in recent years persuading four Latin American countries to cut ties with Taipei in favour of Beijing, often offering trade and investment deals in exchange. Story by @igorpatrick.bsky.social

The second story is about the departure of Cheng Li, one of the most respected sinologists in Washington, DC. After 17 years at the Brookings Institute, Cheng moved to Hong Kong for the weekend. In a long interview, he related how racism played a big role in his decision. https://bit.ly/43g7mDm

Just returned today from one of the things I love the most: Eurovision. Everything about Liverpool this year was fantastic — a well-produced show, friendly locals, nice areas and activities going on outside the arena. Truly had a blast.
Ofc it doesn’t have to be as exclusive as Twitter used to be, but some sort of semi-automatic verification after submitting an ID would be great.
@why.bsky.team I wonder if you guys plan some form of verification on this platform? One of the main reasons for me to leave Twitter was the fear of being impersonated now that you have to pay to prove who you are (which can be dangerous for journalists who, like me, deal with sensitive topics).
Twitter removed my bluecheck today. I have refused and will continue to refuse to pay to confirm my identity on a network where I produce content. I have been using it less and less anyway since it became so toxic after Musk, and now it seems like a good excuse to use my profile here on Bluesky. 🌌
