America innovating on germ warfare

Secretary of War Pete Hegs... # © • 39m The War Department is once again restoring freedom to our Joint Force. We are discarding the mandatory flu vaccine requirement, effective immediately.
Make this make sense.
New in PN: Speaker Johnson's beginning of the end
"Johnson has such a small majority he can’t afford to alienate anybody, & he has nonetheless managed to alienate everybody. The coming months will be brutal for him & are likely to end w/his speakership destroyed in a humiliating, titanic blue wave"
First: hilarious.
Second: A core belief of Trump-brand conservativsm is there are and never have been difficult problems, only dumb leaders without the strength to be cruel enough to solve them.
It's why they always look so baffled when pushing the "more cruelty" button doesn't seem to work.
Well said.
Abstaining only supports the status quo, or worse, defers to those who would take power for objectionable purposes. /1
3. For those who are keeping track, this is the third time since the war began that Trump has promised to commit war crimes and other atrocities if the Iranians do not accept his "give-me-everything" terms. The last one included threats to murder their “whole civilization.”
1. What’s the old saying about the definition of crazy? Doing the same thing over and over, and expecting different results, right? Well, that’s where we are with the president’s war against Iran. He’s clearly insane. The only question is when enough people figure it out.
I should have added that in this pod we discuss this piece on Orban:

Today I wrote about why you should vote for Democrats and that is not in fact an abdication of your political agency
"In America today we have a party of ordinary governance and a personality cult party. Those are the two options we are now offered every general election, and it really is that simple." www.liberalcurrents.com/vote-blue-no...
Good piece, worth reading, and if you don’t have time, the first paragraph is the text in this post, and it suffices as well.
Thanks, @aselrod.bsky.social

@sjshancoxli.liberalcurrents.com is a great host
“It suggests that the annihilation of innocent non-combatants is one of the many reasonable options available to a leader if he wishes to bring about strategic results. It implies that all means can be used to achieve an end” www.liberalcurrents.com/remembering-...
I’m new to @liberalcurrents.com, but this meditation on life & death in a profane age by @gawattia.bsky.social is a fine introduction.

I wasn’t fully inside the process soliciting essays or accepting pitches, so I’m not perfectly positioned to give explanations or defenses of it. But I do know Adam reached out to many, many more people than are ultimately reflected here.
I know that Adam cast a very wide, diverse net for contributors. There were limitations in terms of who was available within the specific time frame and also interested and willing to submit an essay.
Although Altman is not a murderer, and even though his haircut is (barely) better than Chigurh's, I would be lying to you if I said I didn’t recognize profound similarities between them.
I am not saying the guys running OpenAI are serial killers. I'm just saying the worldview they present, and the way they talk about their own actions, reminds me a lot of one of the most iconic serial killers in the history of film.
I’m very excited to be collaborating on such an important project. Can’t wait to see this thing in print! @liberalcurrents.com
Hungarian taxpayers paid American “post-liberal” Rod Dreher $105,000 last year to produce propaganda for Orban’s regime. www.jaccusepaper.co.uk/p/the-strang...
I will be on @maddow.bsky.social’s show tonight to talk about InfoWars. Unlike the site’s current proprietor, I am not presently shirtless.
I'm a huge tease.
But if you think about it, the answer should be obvious. www.thebulwark.com/p/the-second...
I think little because it means I’m both a c-word and am insignificant
He did, yeah. That one was good, but it don’t have quite the same uninterrupted run of Guy Ritchie-esque rage
I’ve got haters worldwide
I know this was meant to be mean to me, but I mostly found it delightfully British
I’ve really enjoyed 4/20, the Bluesky holiday where everyone reveals their deranged relationship with airports
They had to band together to overcome serious rigging of the system.
I think this is why point 2 is imperative
