My brain was an outlier of my body.

I could see it pulsing.

A man came into view. He smiled.

His teeth broken and bloody.

My eyes closed.

Death embraced me.

Electricity burned my chest.

Air filled my lungs.

"Reinsert the brain." I heard him smile again. "He should be compliant now."

The ragged contours of his face told them to run.

The fear in his voice made them stay.

A fire built.

A meal shared.

A monsters first laugh.

They took him from his exile.

Stood by him when others cursed him.

Cut down all that hurt him.

A found family that the fates could not destroy.
