The dust is still settling in the Canadian election, but one phenomenon seems to be the nationalization of the campaign. Even more than usual, people were voting for who they want to be PM rather than who they want represent their riding. (I think this was a factor in #Hamont Centre, where I live.)

Another trend is that the collapse of the NDP vote didn’t just redound to the Liberals but actually bifurcated between both the Liberals and Conservatives.

This trend has been accelerating and progressives need to reckon with it.

Doubling down on critical minerals without mentioning mitigating, or even simply being aware, of the human and environmental cost of Canadian mining is really bleak to be honest.

Matthew Green (NDP) is favoured to win Hamilton Centre. He has a strong track record in supporting his constituents and getting things done in Ottawa (plus he actually lives in the riding). To curb the rightward slide of the Liberals, in ridings like Hamilton Centre, voting NDP makes sense.

We are Canadian youth and we demand an end to fracking on Indigenous land This Canadian federal election, all of our collective futures are at stake

Canadian youth have a message to the leaders this federal #election:

"There will be no 'drill, baby drill' on #Indigenous land. We will not watch as our hard-earned money is used to finance the destruction of our futures."

Many complain about the loss of ‘the middle.’ But which middle? Whether we’re talking about climate change, inequality, broken treaties or other dynamics of harm against targeted groups, none of us is neutral; we are all caught up in the mess.

Hunter Biden pardoned. Okay, President Biden:

There are now 40 men on federal death row. You promised to end the death penalty but haven’t even issued a single clemency.

60 members of Congress are calling for it. When are their clemencies coming?

Canada Post strike threatens to derail critical holiday season for retailers The strike is most likely to affect smaller retailers, many of which say they cannot afford other options to get their goods to customers for the holiday season

Why do these stories treat workers as an afterthought? Business always gets pushed to the top while workers and the issues they are struggling for get pushed to the side. www.theglobeandmail.com/business/art...

Biden should commute all federal death sentences. He claims to oppose the death penalty now, the risk of a political backlash is now moot, and it would be a historic, legacy-making move.
