Of course our higher order thoughts knew there wasn’t *really* a threat but I don’t feel that every part understands this

Some parts are only concerned with the fight for survival

There is something magical about recovering from sickness. Some part knows it’s been fighting for your life even with something as banal as the common cold

And once recovery becomes clear there is great relief about living to see another day
