I can confirm this as one of the "test cohort" in 2016/17 who got death threats, stalking & sexual harassment. In the most egregious case, Met police told me he was "just a dick". Only after Jo Cox was assassinated did the popo take a reluctant interest.
Turns out this guy went on to rape.

I also want to note that trans people aren't the only community facing this treatment - deaths of black mothers in pregnancy, widespread mistreatment of neurodivergent people and people with chronic illness and many other issues result from a similar combo of political neglect and malice.
