And then once you're on top of it all, you're behind on emails 😂

(Not saying I opened my inbox and wondered if I could simply wipe everything I know about librarianship from my brain... But...)

Honestly?! It's genuinely pretty much every day I'm at home (I split my time) I'm always cleaning for at least half an hour a day, more Fridays and Saturday, and it drives me *INSANE*

No one warns you how much of being 30 is cleaning. Putting stuff away and wiping surfaces for 30 mins everyday before work. Dusting surfaces. Doing dishes. Folding towels. Rinsing the sink. Absolutely diabolical stuff.

The only thing worse than clearing your house, is cleaning your house when you're full of hay fever and breathing through your nose is a lost luxury from better, more prosperous times.

Thoughts, prayers and privacy for the family during these trying times.

(I actually moved towns partially due to how incredibly bad TPE was... Literally couldn't leave town some days.)

Oh my god is this a TPE? Thoughts and prayers to all of you!

(Northern all the way from Yorkshire to Carlisle for me.)

(I'm going more along the strands of "all these people warning about lock-in/landlordism/all encompassing proprietary ecosystems? Here's evidence it's real and it's business strategy!", but always good to get more fire power behind the claim)

Do you happen to have written about this somewhere before 👀? I happen to be writing about this (somewhat) rn and I'd like to include it, if possible

1/ This feels like a watershed moment to me. @rluk.ac.uk's Collections Strategy Network has posted new guidance on the criteria Research Libraries should use when making their investment decisions on #OpenAccess monographs, inc. recommending @openbookcollective.bsky.social as one model to consider

Ensure your content budget strategy makes ‘open’ a commitment, and is signed off at the highest level. Another great point from Pete Barr. There’s important ‘soft politics’ here. Do we have the diplomacy and leadership skills to be sure we can make this approach succeed? #CopimConference

It's a _master's thesis_, it's not that deep. (And even if it wasn't, it's her work, she can dedicate it to whoever she likes.)

I'm pretty sure I put my cat in the "thanks and dedication" section of my MA.

GitHub - UoEMainLibrary/pkp_scripts: various scripts for performing functions against PKP OJS or OMP instances various scripts for performing functions against PKP OJS or OMP instances - UoEMainLibrary/pkp_scripts

I'm upgrading a bunch of OJS and OMP instances now I'm working as part of @edinburghdiamond.bsky.social and SCURL Open Hosting. Upgrading these applications is fiddly as heck so I've written scripts to make my life easier and maybe anyone else who regularly works on OJS/OMP.

Just casually ruminating how a certain VC backed this man like his life depended on it till @tristanoscars.bsky.social and I went on telly to suggest he cease that.

Not that I think there'll be a real consequence (for this, or his other alleged wrongdoings), but it's a start...
