This reminds me of when you travel in a developing country and they have different rates for locals and foreigners. Feels like a sign of severe economic decline. Also, let's be real here. We basically nicked all this shit. The least we can do is let them see it for free.

Audrey Gillan | Tinderbox City As fast as the flames flew up, the news of the fire spread not just through the city but among Glaswegians in other...

"The saudade following the fire is also a lament for a Glasgow that no longer exists; for the old Union Street records shops like Bruce's, Missing and Listen...for the days of dancing in Viva and Vamps; and for the A-listed Egyptian Halls" The always-terrific Audrey Gillan for the @lrb.co.uk.

Israel and the US appear to want to do to Tehran what they have done to Gaza: reduce a busy and complex society to a toxic wasteland.

Absolute lack of vision and community. Brutal to give them 3 weeks notice. I'm actually shocked.

‘Cultural vandalism’: major arts hub evicted by council’s property company Tenants like Glasgow Print Studio and Glasgow Media Access Centre have less than 28 days to leave Trongate 103

This is so sad. Glasgow City Council should be ashamed of themselves. www.glasgowbell.co.uk/trongate-103...

Fight the power – in your pyjamas: the film about the day Glasgow kicked out immigration enforcers A neighbour in nightwear, a local imam, a schoolkid, the activist known as Van Man – they and many more stood firm. Love this so much, especially the juxtaposition of English folklore paths with an Amazon spokesperson going out of their way to deny a person driving their branded vehicle is an employee.

One Last Time, by National Park from the album Solo Demos

15. National Park - One Last Time

The sainted @johnhogarty.bsky.social is now with @thepastels.bsky.social but has put been adding tender chiming electric to Glasgow's better records for years and these solo demos show off that refinement

It's so sad. CCA5 is the best sounding room for quiet music in Glasgow. So many great memories of shows there. And meet ups with friends in Saramago. Absolute mess.

Finding out whilst out with friends on Friday that the Centre for Contemporary Arts (CCA) has closed is devastating.

I saw some amazing artists perform there, it was a fantastic venue, and, of course, in October 2015, it’s where many of us got f*cked on Pastelism.

‘The response is a beautiful thing’: how Glasgow is squaring up to Reform In the face of Nigel Farage, flag-waving and a longstanding housing crisis, some Glaswegians are taking on anti-immigration rhetoric

"We get to see the larger community response, which is: what can I do? How can I share? What do you need at the moment?” Such a good, nuanced piece by @libbybrooks.bsky.social looking at the confluence of factors causing tensions in Glasgow but also how the city is fighting Reform's toxic rhetoric.
