Brian and I on a gravel trail
The gravel ahead
Me, almost home
Map and stats of the ride
Metaphysical musings, neverending headwinds, and a gorgeous day out for an age-double birthday ride / #FondoOfTheMonthClub N°100 in a row. Grateful that Goldberg was game to come along for the occasion. Just ride. #cycling #roadcycling #strava #fondo 183km/1161m/7:13
‘Temp’ not ‘team’. Sigh. I am _Le Tired_
My usual 1hr easy ride loop that I do before work is neither an hour nor easy when the team is -2°C. It’s April FFS. <grumpgrumpgrump> #cycling
today’s race to prove the least reliable (between Amtrak and MBTA commuter rail) is being resoundingly won by Amtrak. This is not a compliment.
Are you just trying to spark an uproar?
Photo of the exhibit title in the museum: Muscle Shoals - Low Rhythm Rising
Went to the Country Music Hall of Fame last week & blown away by the Muscle Shoals exhibit. Then a tour of Hatch Show print shop & they had the exhibit poster. Shoulda bought it when I was there, but they have it online so I fixed it ❤️ (photo is from exhibit) shop.hatchshowprint.com/products/mus...
The work is important. Doing good work is important. But I’m learning that the work rarely, if ever, speaks for itself. I am still learning how much I have to speak for the work in order for its value to be recognized. #TechCoMusings
~7 years ago I started curating a list of Design Tokens resources on GitHub… today I launch something better.

Heat is sorted, and old oil furnace and tank are out! Sort of forgot what ‘comfortable’ felt like. This is nice! :)
A bit of a vulnerable post by me but we need your help to get us through what has been a more difficult period than 2020.
It would be really appreciated if you could read and share in your networks too 💛

Thankfully got the coffee maker replaced (I would otherwise presently be unconscious)
Fingers crossed they can finish the furnace install today
Week 4 of no heat in half the house. Maybe today. Then the coffee maker died, and dammit this is just a bit much. FFS.
When AI can generate good-looking work instantly, “good” can’t carry the weight it used to. Change the conversation to reflect what design has always been at its best: goals-aligned, research-informed, constraints-aware, and outcomes-focused. @pseudoroom.bsky.social shares how.
Still trying to figure this thing out, but I have set up a shop selling code for visual components. So far, just one item, more to come.

If you have suggestions for what other things to include there, I'm listening.
That checks out. (this reply _not_ written by ai)
Well, CSS Day is live now ( https://cssday.nl ) and I've got a bunch of related things to do but unfortunately I'm ill and can hardly concentrate.
So the going will be very slow this time.

So you’re saying there is one rule to rule the rules?

Today’s gratitude post is dedicated to @adactio.com and his wonderful resource Going Offline (goingoffline.adactio.com) -
Just finished adding a first pass at a service worker for rwt.io thx Jeremy!
That’s for the amazing write up! Can’t wait to dig in more but bonkers how least it was to set up!
Upping the profanity filter on this app was the best decision I ever made. Makes me laugh every time (Carrot weather app for those who are interested)
I apologize for any part I played in this madness 🤣 (I swear I only redesigned b/c I had to migrate away from a server I wanted to shut down)
Now entirely over to @netlify.com and RevealJS (talks) and @11ty.dev for a few sites, all deployed from GitHub. Most don’t even have a build step. Just don’t need the dynamic stuff these days. Added a tiny bit of JS to simulate it with quotes on rwt.io
This started with IBM 5u chassis from eBay, built up and running Linux and later Windows NT 4, then Windows 2000. Then 1u Dell boxes running Windows 2000. Then Media Temple VPS Linux servers in various incarnations. Used for Tango/Witango/SQL Server, then Drupal (starting w/D5) Until this morning.
A little rough but migrated kitreviews.cc over to @11ty.dev paving the way for shutting down my virtual server. First time since maybe 1997 or 98 that I haven’t had a server to run CMS sites on. No more custom CMS, no more Drupal, not even this last Wordpress experiment. Weird.
You had me at ‘animated static’ (the rest is great, sure, but _static_ 😍
Shared it with the team on Thursday and we’re thinking about that as an addition as we prepare to support it!
