My teacher friend informed me that one of his students came up with insults for people who use A.I. and the best one by a mile was “botlicker.”

So Adobe seems to have semi reversed position on Animate. But the upshot of this is that now I know about @mohoanimation.bsky.social which seems pretty great.

Apparently they have in fact backup up. They didn't email again but the linked article changed today to 'going to maintenance mode' instead of dropping Animate from CC.

True, historically they haven't been great at listening to users. And I worry they're actually intentionally trying to move away from industry specific users in the vain hope of more subs.

In the future, check out Adobe After Effects for complex keyframe animations and Adobe Express for one-click animation effects that you can easily apply to photos, videos, text, shapes, and other design elements.

I AM FURIOUS.

Adobe Animate remains an industry standard for TV animation. Star Trek: Lower Decks was made in Animate. Haunted Hotel was made in Animate. My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic was made in Animate.

And because you can't buy a permanent licence anymore, it'll just be gone.

I'm low key genuinely hoping if enough of us just send angry messages like "What am I supposed to tell my clients who want updates to something from last year?" they'll change their minds.

Oh good Adobe is now not just charging me more every month but apparently they are removing Animate, my primary software. Any other animators have suggestions for new software suites? My whole workflow is drawing in the program as I animate!

Opening the online pottery shop for a few days with some frog mugs and bowls, some geckos and a very few special bird things. Only keeping the shop open for a few days so I can get everything off in the mail before taking a break for the holidays - shop till Friday Dec 12!

My Thanksgiving leftovers are chanterelle mushrooms, manchego cheese, and the extra pumpkin pie I hid until the guests left.

One of the nicest things about supporting vegetarian friends on Thanksgiving is realizing you don't actually have to make a turkey at all and you can spend that money on fancy cheese and expensive mushrooms.
