This is money straight out of the public coffer. A loss of income which we will feel pain from. The gas companies should have had their profits capped instead.

I guarantee there will be a lot of unhappy Albertans come December. Probably many more than would be unhappy in they summer if they stuck with standard time.

Would that figure include those who died of another condition exacerbated by covid? Acquaintance with pre-existing conditions, including well-controlled hypertension, suddenly developed skyrocketing blood pressure after covid, several trips to ER. Had fatal stroke. Not recorded as covid death.

Yesterday I spent some time admiring the toy cash register owned by a child of my acquaintance. Not only does it accept credit cards and coupons, it also has a handful of cents in the tray, along with loonies, toonies and the rest. All in Canadian of course!

He can't believe he might actually have lost. Personally I won't believe we've won until he stops the threats & pulls up signs. I'm afraid there's a bit of a loophole in that if he were to return with a proper development plan, claiming this will benefit the community, it fulfils a requirement.

Thank you!

Extraordinary how seeing "high" feels llike such a relief. When was most of Canada last "high" and not "severe" anywhere?

Indeed. The fact that we are here proves that our ancestors survived just fine for hundreds of thousands of years. Oil may ensure that we do not survive for many more.

If anything my admiration for her increases the more she speaks up. My MLA happens to be one who because of position has to speak about more than the constituency. Nothing wrong with that. There's a constituency office which keeps them informed. Government is a collective not a row of silos.

Should add we don't really "do" vacations and not travelling much since pandemic. Certainly no group tours, just visiting family now. But I have good memories of our travelling days, never had vacay like you describe. I'd get bored at a resort. Need to be up and about every minute, wasting no time!

The best vacations we've ever had have been all inclusive, in the sense that we didn't have to waste time arguing about where to stay or where to eat or what to see. We obviously made good choices in the tours. Egypt. Also an art tour in the Netherlands.

To be honest, although we were young adults when a lot of this was happening, most of the people in actual power were probably our parents' generation. We were still busy finding work, setting up households and raising children. The ungrateful children who despise other people's Boomer parents now.πŸ’”

That doesn't sound like entitlement. It sounds like cognitive impairment. I've set the date for my car retirement: when car is due for biennial inspection early next year and son is under strict instruction to take away keys if I show signs of backing out. Not likely, but who knows?

I've not driven along lower SGR for a couple of decades. Not since the day I spent 20 minutes driving around many blocks in the area looking for parking, ended up going home to Dartmouth and taking ferry back to Halifax to accomplish errand.
(Some of replies in this thread hurt my heart.)

You cannot lump together a diverse group of individuals who have nothing in common except age (between 80 and about 62) and say they are responsible for all ills in society.
However, how do you fix this specific problem, which is that our society is car centric, and, by the way, killing all ages.
