Thank you 😊
Euan Uglow's still-lifes were only realised after a slow, painstaking practice of observation, measurement, correction, and re-correction - left visible are the structural, geometric lines of symmetry used to create the perfectly proportioned and centred composition.
Watercolour showing a dining room facing a window. The table is shiny, and reflects the light form the outside. There is a phone and an envelope on the table. A Tiffany lamp (had to check the spelling). Also a pineapple on a side table casting a shadow on the wall. Monochrome tones of navy.
At my friend Natalie’s place. Watercolour 9” x 12”.

By Jacqueline Brison (1932-2006). It was painted around 1960. I love her bold outlines and vibrant colours.
Thank you!

Morning from Kyiv!
The night was calm here;
Not everywhere in Ukraine.
I read about 103 drones.
I had a #warcoffee
and am going to write.
Sunday Letter day.

A factory chimney blows white smoke over a city painted in shades of blue. Some roofs are covered in snow.
A view of Quebec City, as seen from the top of Escalier du Faubourg, on a very cold January day. Oil on canvas, 24” x 30”. #quebec #art #oilpainting #urbanlandscape
Oil painting of a factory tower blowing smoke (or steam). In tones of blue-grays. 9” x 12”.
Smoke over the city in January. Or is it steam?

She was born in Toronto, and studied at the Art Association of Montreal in 1906. She also studied in England and was a member of the Royal Society of British artists. She was deaf, due to scarlet fever.
Impressionist painting of two women at the beach, wearing long dresses. One is reading a book on a blanket. The other is sitting on a chair. Painter Helen McNicoll.
I went to the Helen McNicoll retrospective at the MNBAQ, and I was fascinated by her impeccable technique: rays of sun in impasto, rich colours, excellent brushwork. #impressionism
Painting of a two-story house, probably 18th century. We’re seeing part of a church behind. Side door leads to outside stairs full of snow.
This is Rue Claire-Fontaine in Quebec City, on a very cold winter day. I used to live near this street. It’s painted with water-soluble graphite, an interesting and portable medium. 10” x 12”.

Thank you! I’m glad you see that 🙏🏻🐈⬛
A watercolour showing a cottage, a big tree, a river, and the mountain on the other side.
L’Anse-aux-Érables, watercolour, 9” x 12”. A peaceful place I visit regularly with my family. It’s on the shores of the Saguenay River, Quebec.

They both look happy, what a great shot ❤️. It’s never too late to learn to paint!
