Age-verification laws have pushed more and more users to sites with illegal content. If a site ignores laws around rape, itâs sure as hell not complying with some state level AV law.
These laws are driving traffic to the worst parts of the internet.
If only someone had warned regulators!
Posts by Bolt thunder
Politicians say the warning label is backed by studies at the National Institutes of Health. But NIH studies refute the language, saying there's no or little established connection between porn and sexual aggression.
The law is being pushed by Unbound Now, a Texas "anti-trafficking" group.

@sigmaposting.bsky.social I think you know what to do
@everyone As some of you might know, some emergencies have occurred recently. My surgery was followed by my dog's vet care and that was then followed by the hospitalizations of my wife's family. The resources needed has put us through a bit of a squeeze, and we do not know how much more may come our way. I'm putting aside my projects to accept any comms given to me through V-Gen. I will also accept any tips on Ko-Fi. I thank anyone willing to donate, comm or spread the post, especially in our current state of the world. God bless, much love and thank you for the continued support.
If you are able to, I could use some help.

Signal boosting this, it would be of great help if yall passed this around
People in Illinois yell at your reps to oppose this.
All age verification systems are identity verification systems, and identity verification systems are surveillance systems. @fightforthefuture.org @eff.org

This is why Iâm such an annoying bitch in saying that itâs not enough for democrats to simply win the next election. Democrats need to step up and completely change trajectory, or else things will continue to get worse, even with the lesser of two evils in power.

I QRP but also putting this in replies:
Here's some actionable info.
It's in committee, meaning we can kill it before it ever reaches the floor (most bills die in committee and never reach the floor)
These are the current members, if they're your rep, call them.

Gonna get ahead of this article before the worst sensationalists in this movement get it. This IS bad, the article claims this will be implemented globally.
HOWEVER, as far as I can tell, "globally" in this context only refers to regions where it's required.
Gil Duran tweet: TLDR: Fascism in response to Palantir's long fascists screed on X.
"Your Account is Suspended" Message on X
The CEO of Palantir posted a fascist manifesto on X.
I pointed out that it was fascistâwhich resulted in a permanent suspension from X (my second time!).
So, when you hear the tweeters complaining that BlueSky is intolerant, remember why many of us came here in the first place.
Re: 'H.R. 8250' "Parents Decide Act". This bill wants to force age verification on the operating system level.
If you see one of your reps listed below, CALL THEM so we can kill this in committee

Do not despair, but do not comply. Much like Apple, I recommend people here:
- Consider other devices for games
- Refuse to comply
- Yell at your reps
The entire AV push is a fucking joke. Call your meps about chatcontrol today btw, they want to force you to face/ID verify just to access ANYTHING online #chatcontrol #privacy #stopcensorship #savespeech #discord
New week, means more calls! Also call your rep to vote against HR 8250!

This @bostonglobe.com piece highlighting substantive critiques of Massachusetts' "protect the kids" push for online ID checks is rock solid.
Many experts quoted along with parents and young people who would be directly impacted.
send this to yr MA legislators

A lot of our big âweâre gonna hold big tech accountableâ bills actually hand them + the government unprecedented power to track, censor, and deplatform internet usersâand would require us to link our identities to everything we do online, meaning no more privacy. Greatly reducing opposition to them
And the big cultural push around âbig tech reformâ is the idea that weâre protecting children from the harms of big tech, when weâre actually giving big tech the very power they seek to destroy the world for all children. And that is no longer hyperbolic when Palantir is announcing it via manifesto
At a time when mass surveillance and autonomous weapons companies like Palantir are openly announcing their plans for violent world domination, it is crucial that our attempts at âbig tech reformâ donât actually give them more powerâie via government mandated age verification/identity software
Good things are still possible, never give up
I don't like "the oppressed became the oppressors" regarding Israel because it misses some crucial information about Israeli policy. Bibi considers Holocaust victims to be weak and Israel's policy was to treat survivors as second class citizens including deporting the ones from Eastern Europe.
âIn Finland, the number of homeless people has fallen sharply. Those affected receive a small apartment & counselling with no preconditions. 4 out of 5 people affected make their way back to a stable life. And all this is CHEAPER than accepting homelessness.â
IT SAVES PUBLIC MONEY to house people.
The plot to enslave America. The plot to enslave humanity. They are announcing it because they think we can no longer stop them
21. Some cultures have produced vital advances; others remain dysfunctional and regressive. All cultures are now equal. Criticism and value judgments are forbidden. Yet this new dogma glosses over the fact that certain cultures and indeed subcultures ... have produced wonders. Others have proven middling, and worse, regressive and harmful. 22. We must resist the shallow temptation of a vacant and hollow pluralism. We, in America and more broadly the West, have for the past half century resisted defining national cultures in the name of inclusivity. But inclusion into what?
â ď¸ Palantir released what it describes as a vision for âThe Technological Republicâ in which it argues AGAINST democratic and cultural pluralism and FOR militaristic supremacy enforced by a technocratic elite who produce AI weaponry.
These points stand out:
A cool thing about this is that most of the world would probably be required to stop using windows or mac because if I were any other government I would not approve the use of any OS made by an American company even if they claimed to remove this
Translation: they are proposing a bill that says you cannot under any circumstances use a computer for any purpose without allowing the United States government continuous monitoring and a backdoor
