I keep telling myself lately that I really shouldn't miss #ESCMIDGlobal and this interesting thread by Onisillos is confirming that. I’ll definitely have to make a plan to attend in the future.🤔

Wonderful presentation at #ESCMID2026 from Dr. Kopsidas on their country-wide program to reduce CLABSIs in 🇬🇷
When asked if he could single out a bundle element as a driver of success, he emphasized the relationships built with frontline staff, saying “we are there, they see you there”

You know what, the world finds a way to keep advancing
Even as measles outbreaks are raging across Global North countries, fueled by disinformation, Institut Pasteur de Dakar in Africa has developed the world’s first rapid test for measles!

My outfit today was a conversation starter 💁🏻♀️
Hope folks will remember the message 😅

A cute drawing of a giraffe and some zoonoses associated with them.
Everything is a zoonosis! Drawing/listing challenge

Not sure why I keep being surprised whenever I see Mycobacterium bovis or rabies pop up 😅

Next up Spain is reportedly sending a frigate to Cyprus in support of defence there.
This seems a smart move to me, signalling European solidarity and participating in defence, while still keeping distance to US/Israel offence against Iran.
lol, reminded me of this
😂👍
1. More #flu news today: Spain has reported a case of #swineflu, (H1N1v), in an 83 yo person who had no contact with pigs. No clear connection between the person & pigs suggests this might be person-to-person spread. Spain is investigating but says it believes the risk to be "very low."
This claim about 80 vaccines in Europe is a joke at best, or a lie at worst. I'm an IPC nurse in Europe and I know two things: I don't know of a single European country with 80 vaccines on its immunization schedule, and every country has its own specific schedule.
Though I may visit the Americas soon, I won't step foot in the current US on principle. I regret this, as it's a great nation of science. Thus, I fearlessly share The Lancet's brave stance; US state bureaucracy can't intimidate me. Heartfelt solidarity to US scientific community: you aren't alone

“Beef tallow is not a healthy source of fat. It’s not, period, full stop.”
Good news - but let’s hope the professionals at the FDA will be allowed to do their work without interference.

A microscopic image showing several green, circular to oval-shaped cells of the marine cyanobacterium Prochlorococcus. The cells have a layered appearance and are viewed under an electron microscope. Clusters of smaller dark dots, likely bacteria or cellular fragments, appear near the larger cells.
Prochlorococcus, a marine bacterium that is only 0.5–0.7 micrometers wide, produces more oxygen than all tropical rainforests combined.
