When someone feels hopeless for good reason, agreeing with them may seem realistic, but it’s not encouraging. I much prefer Westley from the Princess Bride’s approach …
Buttercup: “We’ll never survive!”
Westley: “Nonsense. You’re only saying that because no-one ever has.”
That’s the spirit.

Cover illustration for the short fiction anthology Fusion Fragment, showing a young woman surrounded by falling mirror shards. Each mirror shard reflects a different eye, representing the other trapped women in this Blue Beard fairy tale retelling.

A nighttime color illustration of Narney's OC Lellio, a living doll. She has pale skin, big ol ears, ball-jointed fingers and hands, and long white hair bound loosely in gold clasps. She is dressed elegantly and standing with her hands clasped and eyes closed as though making a wish; the background is a circular graphic of the night sky filled with shooting stars, with one especially bright star centered over her head.
A color illustration of buntglas's OC Misam, a cosmic bunny lady. She has warm brown skin with light freckles and pale purple palms, a gold third eye tattoo, long flowing hair in a loose braid going from dark purple to lavender to gold and ending in a shooting star, and bunny ears. She is wearing a dark purple top and skirt, both with gold trim, and a transparent sari with intricate star-patterned trim; she has LOTS of gold accessories, all evocative of stars and moons. The background is a gold and purple art nouveau-style circular graphic with a central eye motif surrounded by celestial symbols.
A color illustration of a dragonkin/tiefling woman with deep blue skin, closed eyes, tall curved horns with a glowing crescent moon between them, and long wavy hair going from indigo at the top to pale gold at the ends. She is dressed in an indigo gown with lots of gold trim and accessories and sheer blue accent cloth. She is holding a large golden greatsword with blue roses and purple thorns around the guard. The background is an art nouveau-style circular graphic of gold celestial motifs on a black to maroon gradient.
A color illustration of a dragonkin/tiefling woman with teal skin, darker turquoise hair in a braid, closed eyes, and a long tail. She is dressed in layers of red, gold, green, and turquoise, and she is holding a wooden staff with a golden lantern hanging from the top. The background is an art nouveau-style panel of stylized grass, lotuses, and clouds on a sunset gradient.
HOWDY HELLO #PortfolioDay ‼️‼️‼️ I'm kate, a freelance character artist who loves drawing fantasy, women, and especially fantasy women!!!!!
Life and health stuff have slowed me down this year but I HOPE to be open for comms again in the next month or two :'D
Drawing cloth folds becomes 1000% easier when you internalize that it's all just physical evidence force dynamics. Push and pull. Twist and rotate. The folds bunch up in the opposed area of the applied force. So if you raise your arm the meat pushes up and folds occur where it is stretched below.
moody illustration of a woman in a flowing white dress standing in fog, seen from behind. she holds a thin sword at her side with blood dripping from the blade into the water around her feet. the scene is muted and atmospheric. soft light and the outline of tall grass frames the edges.
the blood clings to you, i've learned.
all those little choices, all those lives. you cannot quantify the guilt; no matter how many years yawn on. it clings to you.
it clings.

Can we quit sincerely telling people that having their works plagiarized is flattering? It's a violation.
hbomberguy nailed it when he broke down how plagiarism is not done out of admiration, it's driven by disrespect. Nothing flattering about that.
Let’s see, a new pinned post maybe.
I am an illustrator and I also make pictures with my own hands for animation and games sometimes.
Sketch of a figure curled up and grasping their stomach. They look to be in pain. Swirls in the background and spark shapes fall around their body
Sketch of a person looking at a phone with a crying emoji on it. They themselves are crying too. Splotches are in the background as a design element
Sketch of a person riding a breaking bike on a road. Swishing lines come from the bike, and there is a sunset and tree in the background
Sketch of three figures walking together. One has a bow, one has a spear, and one has a dagger
Was going through my unused editorial sketches folder from the last few years, found some stuff that I wish had been used. Always a reminder that your favs likely won't be chosen, but that's the name of the freelance game!
Hoping to make some new art soon🧡
Our feature tutorial/artist today is this great set of mini-notes on ARMPITS by the talented

A set of three coasters with hand drawn illustrations on them. Done in gouache and poscas the three represent a cheetah, a vulture, and an oryx. The cheetah has a blue background and is yellow, orange, and red. The vulture has a green background and is yellow, orange, and pink. The oryx has a orange background and is teal, blue, and yellow
Found more of my old posca and gouache work for gallery shows. This was for the Nucleus Portland coaster show in 2021. All pieces were on 4x4" coasters, and while these are sold out I'll be making a new set of three for this year's show soon!
