this is not something i think is specific to plural systems, either. i believe it happens across the board with pretty much any mental disorder you could think of. plural systems are just the most pronounced case of it imo.

like a plausible candidate at a glance. i also believe the symptoms these individuals may have inadvertently made up are entirely real to them, and the line between what these individuals experience and what documented, diagnosed plural systems experience is very blurry because of that.

for context, i have been diagnosed by a licensed psychologist with OSDD, and i have documented at least 3 alters, but i do not and have not ever labelled myself as part of a plural system. i am happy to say that i have not lost any time in multiple years.
