Saw this funky goose on a run around campus today. At first I assumed it was a lesser snow goose, but up close it looked like maybe a leucistic greylag goose (backed up by it hanging out with other greylag geese).

Another week, another old story from me. I wrote this one a couple of years ago while travelling for work and dealing with delayed public transport. The prompt was: "The main character rides on a train, late on the way to work."

After just over a month of zero progress, I'm finally back at my WiP, so I thought I'd celebrate by joining in with today's #WIPSnips
This section of my WiP comes when Sarah is moving into her late grandmother's cottage and meeting her familiar, still coming to terms with all things magical.
Trying to be better at posting writing... But given I haven't written anything apart from my WiP in ages, it is old writing. I wrote this one for the prompt: Write a romance in three scenes; 150 words for the 1st, 100 for the 2nd, and 50 for the 3rd.

Slightly different, but I've been watching Castle, and I swear every episode is a game of "Where do I know that actor from? Star Trek? Buffy? Supernatural? Another long running SFF TV show?"

Today started with a spider dropping on me from above in bed, so I guess I'll be thoroughly inspecting the ceiling every five minutes for the next week or so.
Shockingly came first in my round 1 group for @nycmidnight.bsky.social flash fiction despite being forced to write a comedy.
Now round 2 where I'm stuck with the slightly preferable but still very much out of my wheelhouse genre: thriller.

So yeah, I may not be on discord for a while.
Finding a community where you swap stories and feedback has done wonders for me. I get feedback which tells me what people are enjoying but also helps me improve. And (sometimes more importantly) I get to read and give feedback to others which helps improve my confidence in my editing brain.
The cats now only need a toy as motivation (as opposed to treats which somewhat negate the exercise they get).
