Saw this funky goose on a run around campus today. At first I assumed it was a lesser snow goose, but up close it looked like maybe a leucistic greylag goose (backed up by it hanging out with other greylag geese).

Another week, another old story from me. I wrote this one a couple of years ago while travelling for work and dealing with delayed public transport. The prompt was: "The main character rides on a train, late on the way to work."

Sign In | The StoryGraph Take a photo of a barcode or cover

Finally got around to joining Storygraph and enjoying it so far but would love more connections there to get more ideas what to read app.thestorygraph.com/profile/loop...

Side note: I found the trigger warnings there for Pride and Prejudice highly amusing if technically accurate.

After just over a month of zero progress, I'm finally back at my WiP, so I thought I'd celebrate by joining in with today's #WIPSnips

This section of my WiP comes when Sarah is moving into her late grandmother's cottage and meeting her familiar, still coming to terms with all things magical.

Trying to be better at posting writing... But given I haven't written anything apart from my WiP in ages, it is old writing. I wrote this one for the prompt: Write a romance in three scenes; 150 words for the 1st, 100 for the 2nd, and 50 for the 3rd.

Two cards which are the same, showing two cats snuggling with the text "I'd spend all 9 lives with you"

When it's your anniversary and you and your partner have the same tastes (only the second time we've ended up matching perfectly).

Three cats on window hammocks. One of the black cats, called Calliope, has her butt and back legs on the window hammock with the rest of her spilling off so her chest and head rest on the windowsill with one paw on the radiator.

When you can't decide whether you want to be on the hammock or the radiator, apparently the answer is both (and yes, that is an old Taskmaster episode on the TV reflected in the window) #CatsOfBlueSky

Currently hosting a "Throwback Campfire" where a bunch of writers share old stories so we can all see how we've grown (and cringe at our old selves). I dug out this piece from a few years ago which I had entirely forgotten writing: loopylouwrites.wordpress.com/2026/03/20/e...

Slightly different, but I've been watching Castle, and I swear every episode is a game of "Where do I know that actor from? Star Trek? Buffy? Supernatural? Another long running SFF TV show?"

That is an awesome set-up!

Today started with a spider dropping on me from above in bed, so I guess I'll be thoroughly inspecting the ceiling every five minutes for the next week or so.

Shockingly came first in my round 1 group for @nycmidnight.bsky.social flash fiction despite being forced to write a comedy.

Now round 2 where I'm stuck with the slightly preferable but still very much out of my wheelhouse genre: thriller.

Good luck to anyone else taking part!

A campaign sign for a long haired tuxedo cat in various silly poses: balancing on the side of an upturned mattress, half-on half-off the arm of a sofa, sat at a table, hidden under a coffee table, and sat upright with back legs splayed apart.

Text reads:
HEKATE ALSO IS HERE

but she is not allowed to run for office because she is far too silly

Though if Hekate was actually running she might just get it

So @discord.com made me verify my age because of the new UK law. I opted to use the video selfie verification because it seemed easiest. Account instantly suspended for being under 13...

So yeah, I may not be on discord for a while.

Finding a community where you swap stories and feedback has done wonders for me. I get feedback which tells me what people are enjoying but also helps me improve. And (sometimes more importantly) I get to read and give feedback to others which helps improve my confidence in my editing brain.

The cats now only need a toy as motivation (as opposed to treats which somewhat negate the exercise they get).

I wish I had as much energy as Polly seems to

I fear in this case the calories consumed most likely exceed the calories burned 😅

We got our cats an exercise wheel to help burn off some energy. They still need a little extra encouragement at the moment though

Now I'm intrigued to know what gender they'd sorted various shops into. Like, are shoes man, woman, or child?

2025 FlashBack Fiction Challenge — GLOBE SOUP

Currently working on a story for the #GlobeSoup Flashback Fiction Competition and have changed my mind about where exactly the story starts at least ten times already. Apparently juggling two timelines makes me even more indecisive than normal #WritingCommunity
