I did a deep dive last night learning why the "liver" trait (that brown/weird colored nose etc) is recessive
- most dogs genetically are black! A recessive gene changes it to browns!
Goldens are also genetically black!
Except for a separate gene that's also recessive that cancels it out to yellow!

This is my favorite thing to talk about too. Because most of what people think are characteristic traits of many breeds are recessive! Which is why it's a characteristic trait of that breed!!
