Annual flu vaccine no longer required for U.S. military, Hegseth says The move alarmed some public health experts, who warned that it would weaken troop readiness.

NOT SO FUN FACT—half of all U.S. war casualties during WWI were due to influenza. Today—Trump’s War Secretary remove the flu vaccine requirement for all U.S. military. Plus, bragging about this to all enemies is just absolute idiocy. www.washingtonpost.com/national-sec...

I'm not joking when I say mRNA technology is more important than "AI" and it's a tragedy we're throwing billions into one while our government is aggressively defunding the other.

When I got to JFK early last month due to TSA stress I discovered that I was actually TOO early to check my bag and there was literally not a single chair outside of security. The hotel was a bit too much of a schlep but I considered going to the bar (and in hindsight I should have).

Failed Companies Are Selling Old Slack Chats and Email Archives to Train AI Defunct startups are pawning off their former employees conversations for up to $100,000, according to a new report.

With the caveat that companies fail for lots of reasons, the notion of training your AI on a data archive comprised of failed companies' conversations seems like it might inadvertently train the text-generating machine into perpetuating some of the same mistakes?

walkable cities strongly encourage a feeling of imagined community that helps make you a good citizen. if you experience the city only in slices it's easier to see large swathes of it as fundamentally alien or hostile.

Three panel comic. Panel 1: scene from the movie Aliens; Ripley is in a mech suit and delivers her iconic line: “get away from her, you bitch!” Panel 2: the xenomorph queen lunges at Ripley in the robotic suit and they engage in a fight. Panel 3: later, the xenomorph queen is standing in the shower, mid wash. She says, “‘it takes one to know one, honey.’ That’s what I should have said.”

Hochul Proposes Tax on N.Y.C. Second Homes That Are Worth $5 Million

I know it’s not a full “tax the wealth” plan but I think Hochul just caved a little on Mamdani’s demands to tax the rich.

This is also extremely low hanging fruit as these specific wealthy people don’t vote in NY, so she won’t face electoral blowback by this bloc.

harris campaigned with liz cheney and talked about owning a gun. the right said she spent billions on transgender surgery for prisoners and that message overwhelmed any appeal she sought to make to center-right voters. instead she should have fucking stood up for more progressive shit.

Kim Kardashian Joins Producing Team Of Broadway's 'The Fear Of 13' Kim Kardashian has joined the producing team of Broadway's wrongful conviction drama The Fear of 13 starring Adrien Brody and Tessa Thompson.

This last-minute-celeb-producer trend has become an unseemly way of getting a Tony nomination. The Fear of 13 is in final previews; it opens Wed. It's already BEEN produced. Being labeled a producer when you are basically an endorser is not great. Asterisk those EGOTs! deadline.com/2026/04/kim-...
