When you have unreasonably complex expressions in swift, every day is Xmas!

I always take it as a badge of honor finding crashes in the compiler. I really should try harder to figure out how to reduce the case to report bugs like this though.
It makes me just a little happier every time my co-worker that likes react hates on RN because of its limitations out of the box that he knows shouldn’t be a thing in mobile
8 PRs before lunch… Can I be done for the day?
That moment where all but one PR in your PR channel on slack is from you… Ugh…
Also as much as I don’t care to be an expert I do appreciate that people try to sway me though none have succeeded. I see the value in RN I just don’t like it
I’m no expert and don’t really want to be when it comes to RN but the most recent example is my co-worker wanting to figure out how do background tasks since you have the ask the OS to schedule them. He had to go grab a library. When doing native stuff it is trivial function registration.
I just want my full time job to be native again…
The fact that you need to go find a library to do any trivial OS supported thing in react native is honestly ridiculous and embarrassing
Just heard one of the worst development ideas I’ve ever heard…
At my previous job we used OpenAPI and wanted to support swift 5 before there was any tooling for it. I made my own tool to parse the json spec and make the types how we wanted them (combine based at the time as it was before async/await) and I feel your pain. It gets messy…
Dependabot now supports Xcode projects using SwiftPM with .xcodeproj manifests

The fact that Trump is going to oral arguments to pressure the justices to acquiesce to his attempted nullification of a constitutional amendment and create a stateless class for the first time since the civil war, illustrates what is really at the core of the Trump project and it isn’t tariffs.
@krzyzanowskim.com realized I should have tagged you in a follow up to this post the other day. This project was only possible by using Sourcery so I thought you might appreciate it (even if the README) is super outdated (but being worked on).
As always, my biggest feedback, which has to do with digital tools, is to allow creators to profit from their digital work in VTT marketplaces. The 3rd party space is keeping Daggerheart interest alive in the community and we want to make it easier to get those things into VTT player's hands!
Should definitely have a few more free form questions next time. I know they are harder to process but they let us give better feedback. Specifically like things like section 1.9 of the CGL being overly restrictive and those of us trying to follow it being ignored when trying to get permissions.
Planning out a new app to start working on and @pointfree.co once again has done a tremendous amount of heavy lifting for me, this time with github.com/pointfreeco/... supporting CloudKit
Bah 3rd times the charm on sending a post right?
My last job at Cricut finally open sourced this project I worked on: github.com/cricut/FishyJoes. It is how we were able to ship swift code everywhere for our data manipulations as a user would change text or shapes on their canvas.
My app just got approved with CarPlay as part of it. I’m glad it turned out fairly easy to integrate into my app since I use @pointfree.co’s TCA for the main app. I just setup subscriptions via an AsyncStream to receive remote commands and it just works and feeds it into the normal system.
BREAKING NEWS: The Utah GOP's citizen ballot initiative to repeal Prop. 4 will NOT be on the November ballot after enough signatures have apparently been removed.
The Utah GOP confirmed it to me: www.fox13now.com/news/politic... #utpol #Utah
I wish but all the other players (except for the buddy who had also run campaigns) just have no interest if everyone doesn’t want to play sadly 😞
I just want to finish the Daggerheart campaign I’ve been running for months. Like 3 sessions left and now nobody wants to play because one friend wasn’t enjoying how everyone was roleplaying. Not that anyone was doing anything to upset them or be rude or anything like that, they just didn’t like it…
Just submitted v1.4.0 of my app, AudioBookIt to Apple for review. It adds CarPlay support which turned out to be way easier to implement than I thought it would be. I spent WAY more time fighting the configuration and setting stuff to get it building than actually coding it felt like.
Father on the right: “My daughter says you’re in the tech industry” Guy on the left: “Yes, I help YouTube detect ad blockers” Father on the right: “You have exactly 10 seconds to get out of my house”
this is the story of so many technologies and certainly almost every technology that centers itself around knowledge work. that's because the technology isn't built/marketed/implemented with the workers in mind, it is for the bosses, who implement it in order to extract more out of people
Vibe coding make the code production cheaper and while there is an opportunity to enter existing markets, there are many capital-intensive barriers that will foil those attempts.
Distribution channels, existing customers, migration, contracts, marketing - all of those need real bodies and money.
Really cool write up. Thanks for sharing!
Also I don’t recommend replying first thing when waking up or you easily end up with lots of little typos like I just did 🙃
