That new Spaceballs could somehow get a negative score on Rotten Tomatoes, and I’ll still go see it because I want to see Rick Moranis again.

The weirdest lie I’ve seen about King is that he’s a genocidal maniac who openly supports ICE. I have no idea where this one started.
Tom King is a good writer. A great one, in fact. It has become social media hackneyed behavior to provide empty criticisms of him and just out-and-out lies about him for clicks, and it’s the weirdest thing I’ve ever seen in comic fandom.
I hate him so much. Imagine being so universally hated by so many people that your name doesn't even have to be said and people just know who we're talking about.
If DC Comics wants to make a bazillion dollars, they’ll make these for real
Why does a company that owns a comic convention need to also own a database that provides information to ICE? This is one of the many shitty things about capitalism. I’m so tired of everything in my life benefitting CEOs who don’t give a fuck about humanity. Sorry, C2E2, but I won’t be attending.
I have this character I revisit every time something in the world pisses me off. He's a violent, angry, brutal vigilante who is, for all intents and purposes, The Punisher but explicitly left wing. First page of the new one below. Full story here: online.fliphtml5.com/hvxfj/One_Wa...
With superheroes, I don't think analyzing the politics of the characters simply enhances the reading, I think it's downright necessary to fully grasp the character's motivations, the themes of the story, and all the other connective tissue. From Green Arrow to Superman to the X-Men, it's needed.
I demand a release of the full, unredacted Long John Silver files
Their contract is set to expire in February. Urge them to not renew!
I've read too many superhero books to let myself support the real life villains of the world.
If that contract with ICE is renewed, I won't support their events, which include Star Wars Celebration, NYCC, Emerald City Comic Con, Book Con, and Magic Con. Let's make sure they let it expire. I've already emailed ReedPop's VP to tell them. I hope you do the same.
I was asked to cover C2E2 this year, and I'm really excited to do so. However, I learned today that the organizer, ReedPop, is owned by a company whose subsidiary, LexisNexis, has a contract with ICE that allows them to more efficiently do harm to people. That contract is set to expire in February.

A list of properties I don't really have a concrete idea for, but I sure would love to write anyway:
1. Resident Evil
2. Sailor Moon
3. Speed Racer
Okay, thank you for listening!
The SHOES!
I read through all of Superman: The Kryptonite Spectrum last night. What a wild book. It's such a post-modern superhero story, combining Silver Age fantasy with Bronze Age introspection. I really loved the issue with Billy Batson and Clark doing art therapy.
Imagine a Criterion Collection for comics--a line of international books deemed artistically and/or culturally significant packed with scores of extras. What comic books would need a place in the collection?
Started to see a trailer for a new Tom Cruise movie, then the screen said “From Alejandro G. Iñárritu,” and didn’t need to see any more. I’m sold.
“An Example” is the latest in my & Daniel Max’s short explorations of an expressly left-wing vigilante. We call him Lefty Punisher for short.

I love The Filth. It is my favorite kind of "out there".
Not tryin’a get political all over the TL, but I think Die Hard is a solid action flick
Hey WB! It should be against the rules to release a 4K without director’s commentary. Neither Superman nor Sinners (which I’m especially bummed about) have them!
New "How to Report ICE" zine:
#StLouis metro area in Spanish!

Also, correction to the St. Louis zine in English:

The operant word there would be "meaningful." If it doesn't fit the story, it shouldn't be there. That's true of all elements of writing.
There are characters I love, but more than that, I love what they can do for their respective stories, especially when utilized in ways I wouldn't always agree with. Sometimes I don't like it, and other times I do. But I always want the creators to have the freedom to do it their way.
It's the Last Jedi-fication of comics: a refusal to look at the whole of the fiction because one aspect isn't catered to your specific tastes, and it's baffling because you're missing out on so much of what makes one of the greatest American artforms so beautiful.
I feel bad for the people who read comics solely as a way to consume their favorite character and not as a way to enjoy storytelling. Inevitably, a creator will interpret a character in a way that you don't like, and the latest online craze is to loudly call that person a bad writer.
