Dan Fisher called it one of the best springs #Pitt volleyball has had. The Panthers won all three of it's open scrimmages, including a five-setter with reigning national champ Penn State.
Here are my biggest takeaways from the spring scrimmages:

FINAL: #Pitt 3, Michigan 1
The Panthers takes set four 25-18. Olivia Babcock absolutely dominated with X kills, despite having two blockers on her just about every time.
Michigan calls a timeout with #Pitt up 7-2. Haiti Tautua'a and Sophia Gregoire each have aces and Olivia Babcock has two kills in this fourth set.
SET THREE: Michigan 25, #Pitt 18
The Wolverines were just doing everything right and really forcing the Panthers into some difficult positions. Pitt hit just .121 in the third. We're heading to a fourth.
Dan Fisher calls a timeout as Michigan has extended its lead to 20-17. #Pitt struggling with Valentina Vaulet who has six kills — three of which came in this set.
SET TWO: #Pitt 25, Michigan 17
The middles are on fire. Bre Kelley and Ryla Jones each have five kills. Abbey Emch not fair behind with 3. Blaire Bayless leads the squad with 6. Olivia Babcock also with 5.
Timeout Michigan. #Pitt is on a 3-0 run with two of those points coming from freshman middle Abbey Emch. She has three kills on four swings with no errors. Blaire Bayless and Ryla Jones leading the Panthers with five kills apiece.
Big celebration for a kill from freshman middle blocker Abbey Emch. #Pitt leads 7-5 in the second set.
First set: #Pitt 25, Michigan 17
Sophie Gregoire with her second ace of the game. Ryla Jones with a big performance of five kills and a hitting percentage of .667. The team as a whole hit .296 while holding Michigan to .167.

Hello from the Fitzgerald Field House! #Pitt volleyball has a spring scrimmage against Michigan at 1 p.m.
The Panthers are 2-0 in spring games this week.
A 2-yard touchdown throw from Eli Holstein to Cam Sapp to put Gold within three points of Blue. Not much time to do anything as it's Blue ball with 31 seconds to play.
Touchdown Gold. Eli Holstein hands the ball to WR turned RB Justin Cook for a 4-yarder. Kick is good and Gold is on the board. Blue leads 17-7 with 7:45 to play in #Pitt's spring game.
END OF Q3: Blue 17, Gold 0
Who would've thought true freshman Mason Heintschel would be the most consistent quarterback in today's game??
Catarius Hicks with a 65-yard touchdown to kick off the second half. Blue extends the lead to 17-0 over Gold in #Pitt's spring game.
HALF: Blue 10, Gold 0
Honestly a pretty entertaining first half. DB Shadarian Harrison with an interception, LB Kyle Louis with a touchdown pass to Zion Fowler-El, sacks from Braylan Lovelace (Gold-Holstein) and Francis Brewu (Blue-Dugger).
END OF Q1: Blue 10, Gold 0
Pat Narduzzi said he had some tricks up his sleeve for today's game, but I definitely didn't expect a Kyle Louis touchdown pass. Lots of errors from the Gold team early. But again. It's early.
Kyle Louis is apparently an offensive unit, too. He takes a snap at RB and throws a touchdown pass to Zion Fowler-El. Sam Carpenter makes the extra kick. The Blue team led by freshman QB Mason Heintschel takes a 10-0 lead with 20 seconds left in the first quarter. #Pitt.
Braylan Lovelace with the first sack of the game on Eli Holstein. Not the best start for QB1. He's got an interception and a sack already. Just six minutes in the first quarter.
Blue team takes a 3-0 lead after a field goal from Sam Carpenter. Great start to the drive with Shadarian Harrison picking off Eli Holstein to give Blue the ball. Mason Heintschel at QB with at least three completed passes and just one incomplete.
Neither RB Juelz Goff nor DB Rashan Murray are dressed for today's game. Both were on the Blue team for #Pitt.
This year's #Pitt football Conway Winners are WR Kenny Johnson and DB Shadarian Harrison. The award is given to the most improved Pitt player on offense and defense during the spring season.
Good stuff from @abbyschnable.bsky.social after an eventful final day of spring practices on the South Side: Pat Narduzzi comments on the House settlement and roster changes; Kade Bell tweaking, updating his offense ahead of Year 2.

A source was able to confirm to @abbyschnable.bsky.social that Pitt point guard Jaland Lowe is in the transfer portal. The Athletic's Tobias Bass was first to report the news.
