I’ve personally never got the point of being TF’d if you don’t get to experience it from having lost your mind on the way. I know lots of people are into it, but it never sits right with me.

Small guide I made for a friend to help his map making. It isn't too in depth and doesn't cover anything like climate, but it gives some reasonable advice to help make maps.

Humanity is not meant to toil away managing tasks for AI agents to complete. Such behavior will leave us wholly unsatisfied within the world. We need to stop looking at efficiency. We need to slow down and create.

He describes how it turned him into a manager rather than a craftsman, and how that had the knock on effect of never allowing him to get into the flow of his work. It got me thinking that this AI technology might be even worse than I thought.

That said, the facial recognition spying, the endless data center build up, the waste of consumer hardware and energy are all not good. While I think generative AI has at least some uses compared to blockchain, I think that what we've gotten out of it has thus far been a net negative.

Personally, I don't hate all of AI tech that is coming out. I think there are some good practical uses of it: solving protein folding and generating new ones, I saw an AI solution for better green screen chroma keying, and I know its being used in further improvements to motion capture processing.

I mean the biggest supporters of both of those just fall into the general Tech Bro archetype. In many ways they have a near religious fervor for these technologies. They have taken the corporate buzzword wall street pandering (cloud computing came before this) and made the type their lives.

But what if I want that?
