The long, tentacle-like appendages strike downwards and burrow into the neck of Rex, blood and the tar-like substance mixes together as they fall and pool onto the ground. The tentacles begin to swell and merge into each other, making a sort of cocoon vaguely in the shape of a human head. Horns burst from the cocoon as the area around the eyes falls away, while more of the black substance runs from where the eye sockets would be. The cocoon now looks more like a face, semblances of a nose and mouth forms; the lower region of the face begins to stretch and tear as a jaw attempts to open. After some strain the cocoon gives and the jaw flies open wide, as the head returns to a normal resting position the skin from within the eye sockets begins to push out and bulge. They rerupt with a shower of blood and the eyes hang from the socket by their optical nerves. They quickly retract and fly back into the skull that lies behind the withering cocoon.

Ana quickly whips her head around to the spot where Rex lay. His beheaded body has risen and is on its knees, attempting to stand upright. Blood runs down from his neck stump, a bubbling black tar-like substance rises from within the body and overflow over the neck. Several tentacles erupt from the neck and wave in the air around Rex’s body.

With the cuffs on her wrists, Ana curls into the fetal position. “Job well done, i’d say,” Zamsi comments to herself now that both of her subjects are handcuffed and accounted for. She reaches into her bag a pulls out a flare gun, she aims it towards the sky and deploys the flare. “You can drop the sulking act now, You’re not foolin’ me,” Zamsi says to Ana, who looks up with tears in her scornful eyes. “GO FUCK YOURSELF,” she forcefully says without shoutiing; Zamsi looks at her unimpressed by her emotional lash-out, but recognizes that she isn’t trying to play on Zamsi’s emotions. “You’re serious then. Jeez. You know you can’t die down here, right?” A twitching can be seen in Rex’s right hand.

Zamsi loops the reins around the saddle’s horn before dismounting Scout, she leans around the large creature to see what has happened upon landing. “Oops. Meant to jump over them,” she says to herself, “Coulda at least landed on the other one.” Scout raises his hoof so Zamsi can continue her work, a large strand of blood and viscera follows the hoof up. “EW,” Zamsi plainly expresses, “Guess you weren’t so hard-headed after all, eh, Zet?” She leans down and pulls Rex’s arms together in order to fasten the other handcuff to his right hand. Zamsi then makes her way over to Ana, who sits on the ground with her head hung; Zamsi squats in front of her, “Sorry about your… Boyfriend? Husband? Eh. Whatever.” A moment passes, Ana does not respond, Zamsi continues before the silence drags on too long, “Got a pair of cuffs for ya. Nice and shiny.” There is another silence, Ana is completely despondent, “You need ‘help’ too?” Zamsi asks. Ana raises her hands to her face and presents her wrists to Zamsi. “Atta girl,” she replies to the woman’s compliance.

One of Scout’s massive legs comes crashing down and an intense spurt of blood is launched into the air. A drop of it hits Ana’s cheek, she is shocked at first, then emotionally devastated. Scout has landed squarely on Rex’s head, not even his hair is visible from underneath the massive ‘hoof.’

Rex helps balance Ana as they scurry away from Zamsi, “We were running because you did something stupid… Now we’re do it because of ME,” she reflects, almost understanding Rex’s impulsive response that lead them to their current position. To distract from her injury, she asks Rex, “Hey, do you like girls with a few scars?” Rex smiles, “Love ‘em now.” “Good, because this one feels huge,” she comments back, but Rex has turned his head and appears alerted to something. “Sorry,” he says. Before Ana can ask, “For what,” Rex throws her to the side with all his strength, as she stumbles away she catches a glimpse of what Rex saw: the monster Zamsi rode on is jumping towards their position.

Rex hastily crouches down to check on Ana, “ANA!! Are you okay?!” Ana looks up towards him, she nurses the area around her eye, a deep slash has bloodied almost the entirety of the right side of her face; “NO. You’re welcome, by the way…” Rex grabs her wrist to help her stand up, “You’re supposed to AVOID headbutts, babe.” Ana fires back with, “And you’re supposed to LAND sucker punches,” to which Rex can only say, “Fair.” Meanwhile Zamsi is doubled over in agony as she winces in pain, “These things are a pain in the ass…” she mutters to herself, never having someone kick her straight in the testes before. She is able to raise her head enough to threaten the couple with a malice-soaked tone, “You two are so f—” but to finish the sentence would be futile, as they are already running away from her location. “Son of a bitch…” she mutters to herself before pointing towards them and shouting, “HEY! GET BACK HERE!” Rex flips her off and responds with, “Fuck off!” Zamsi tries to whistle using her fingers twice to no avail, only blowing air; “Aw fuck it,” she murmurs to herself before calling out to Scout, “SCOUTY BOY!! LET’S RIDE!”

Rex squeezes his eyes closed and waits for Zamsi’s fist to crash into his face, he doesn’t have time to try and cover up. A moment passes and his face relaxes slightly, unsure what’s going on with her delayed punch. Rex opens an eye as he thinks ‘Kinda… taking a while,’ to himself. To his surprise Ana’s knee is firmly wedged into Zamsi’s groin, saving Rex from a nose-shattering strike. He is shocked to see Ana intervening, ‘What is she—?!’ He half thinks to himself. Ana stares Zamsi in the face with a ferocious and protective expression, with food in her mouth she attempts to say, “Hands off my man, you bitch,” but is cut short when Zamsi doubles over in pain and unintentionally headbutts Ana with her large horns. Zamsi screams out, “MY FUCKING BOYS,” as she goes down; Ana spits out her food reflexively as her eye receives a gruesome gash.

The sound of handcuffs racking closed catches Rex and Ana off guard, Rex now has a silver cuff around his left wrist. “Cool bracelet,”” Zamsi compliments, her forced smile now a more natural jeer, “Mr. Nice Broad is done now. Shut your fucking mouth.” Rex doesn’t appreciate the blindsiding, Zamsi’s tone doesn’t help either. Rex’s fight or flight always leans towards ‘fight’ as indicated by his twitching hand. Give me your other—” Zamsi’s command is abruptly cut short as Rex swings his free hand at her, his right hook whiffs, but it does surprise Zamsi. She goes from startled to seething anger. “FUNNY,” she shouts from between her teeth. She matches Rex’s hook with a lightning-fast right straight aimed directly between his eyes.
