Ugh. I didn’t watch (not from Ca) but I saw comments in favor of freezing ins rates. Maybe a good sound bite but a really horrible idea. Ins co’s have already proven they will leave. How’s that been working for Cali? Some made a deal to stay in exchange for a rate increase. Freeze = gone.

Plus, you can’t lament the lack of accountability for people like the J 6ers and then talk about the “justice involved population” without sounding like a hypocrite and that’s part of what people react to.
When people are ready to have an honest conversation without getting defensive about it, this is exactly the kind of language that “real world” people are turned off by. In my experience, this is what nonpolitical moderate and left leaning folks roll their eyes at.

Maybe a whole bunch of important people reminding US Strategic Command that they are obligated to disobey orders that direct them to do war crimes and genocide would mean something. If nothing else it appeals to their own self interest to remind them they could be prosecuted later.

When I was much younger I knew a group of 20-something military policemen who played quick draw in the elevator when they were on duty. If I recall correctly there was at least one accidental discharge.

A crowd of around 4500 gathered in Olympia WA today. Kudos to state patrol, state agency staff, and local volunteers for sending the fewer than 100 counter protesters (organized and/or advertised by the State R party) to a spot across the street. #NoKings

I’m not defending the bill - But some context: WA waived sovereign immunity in 1961, meaning if the same thing happened in multiple states, under current law, WA would be on the hook to a greater extent than the states who kept themselves more shielded from liability by retaining sovereign immunity.
Cue the unjust enrichment lawsuits.

That was where my head was too. But to be fair, my husband reminded me of a couple of men here in the US after I posted. But as a percentage of those involved, women are definitely over represented in the accountability category.
