😂 I'm here for it lol
but on a serious note, you should check out lettermatic.com/custom/monas... it's super cool!

I'll give it a look here soon! Appreciate the invite. 🙏
If you've got some time in the next couple of weeks, it'd be nice to get on a call if you wouldn't mind giving me a demo. I'd probably learn a lot more from you than just poking my head around.
happy to provide suggestions within Japan!
like, they've built two whole applications in that time. how did they manage to make Lightroom as poorly optimized as Lightroom Classic? the app runs smooth as butter on my iPads! but use it for more than a couple minutes on Windows and it shits the bed every time
absolutely wild to me that it's been almost 20 years and Lightroom is still one of the least performant applications on Windows. I'm throwing a 32 core Threadripper with 128gb of ram at it and it *still* manages to crash my machine
for me personally, this is the #1 reason why I *cannot* use this site. gave up reading the most recent blog cuz of eye strain only a few paragraphs in
please do better. I'd even be willing to help if I can. with typography being so foundational, the necessary overhaul would be a ton of work
okay, I'm sorry but I have to call out @npmx.dev here because I think it's quite ironic that for a project with an a11y page npmx.dev/accessibility it sure has some of *the worst* typography I've ever seen
heck of a choice to use bold fonts everywhere with zero visual hierarchy. it hurts to read
this was my experience at Sakuracon this past weekend. hugely vocal anti-AI crowd there. artist alley booths had a lot of No AI Slop signs. even my friends there cringed when I mentioned referencing AI art for outfit inspiration
I'm here for it being an assistant, not to replace people
nice to see @pdx.atproto.camp bring back some of the 2010's meetup scene vibes that PDX has been sorely lacking these last couple of years
correct JP DeVries is not yet on bsky afaik. Accessibility is a focus of mine, though he’s been at it much longer than I have. Can find him here: www.devries.jp
Hmm, well I guess I’ll find out if it supports the use case I have in mind. At present I’ve just been building around using VSCode Web / github codespaces for a wysiwyg editor.
Only one that comes to mind is jsconf.jp which I went to in 2024. There are some talks in English there but they are the minority. Pretty good attendance though.
I’m looking forward to trying it out later this week! Love the idea of it. The #1 thing that would make it better for me is if it worked directly on top of markdown + git. In keeping with owning your data, I think a markdown first approach is paramount. Files, not databases!
I'm aiming to publish all 48 of the slide decks I've got outlined for this year, so this is just the first 12. I've learned a heck of a lot about @figma.com Slides working on this project. it's got its rough edges but being able to leverage the full Figma Design tools really helps with consistency!
as I may have mentioned previously, this year I decided to help tutor a bunch of my friends in Japanese with the goal of them learning enough to pass the JLPT N5 exam this December
to do this, I'm teaching weekly classes and I just published the first 3 months of slides: www.figma.com/@drakecosta
wow what did I do to earn a bunch of new followers all of a sudden? lol
that said, google fonts availability *when*?! 😭
incredible work! @github.com giving the world one hell of a gift by open-sourcing this font family containing *nearly three-quarters of a million glyphs*! 🤯
can't wait to start using it in my projects 🤩
noped back to the old theme immediately
readability went down with the new theme, IMO, so that's a non-starter for me
Signed up for the waitlist. Would like to play around with it and maybe show it off to some local friends to see how they’d build a business on it.
Out of curiosity, are your limited on region support right now?
I'm excited to finally share what we've been working on!
For the last 8 months, we've been building Biscuit: an all-in-one platform for building a business. Product, payments, emails, hosting and operations built in.
Today we're opening the waitlist 🎉
congrats on the reveal! will be reading all about it this morning
unfortunately no Windows support yet =/
would also like to bundle this with a repo and consistently assign subdomains for apps I run, instead of that hard requirement on global installs
feels to me like the atproto community has exhibited the kind of excitement about open source that we had on the other site years ago
happy slots day! 🥳

nice congrats!
To answer the inevitable question, why not use a CMS? I want github *to be the cms*. I don't want my content locked behind a database. It's perfectly fine for it to be static files.
I would especially like to have this for content focused sites like marketing websites. The desire is for the site code to be open source, but the content should not be. I've tried the submodule approach before and it was a total nightmare.
the really interesting bit to me was Traffic-Aware Pre-Rendering!
would love to see that become the default for nextjs + astro apps
