WATCH: If your city is having a bike-lane debate that’s more about ideology than evidence, watch this news story from Toronto. The Province is attacking bike-lanes, and the local business community takes their arguments apart with data and smart messaging.
Safe bike-lanes mean business. #UrbanTruth

"Winter is revealing. It shows whose safety is prioritized. It shows whose mobility matters. It shows who is expected to adapt, and who isn’t. If accessibility disappears the moment conditions change, then it was never truly embedded to begin with."
Yes, yes kids should learn to ride a bike in school.
Cities should also make riding bikes to school safe and easy. www.youtube.com/watch?v=-GdG...

“…the power of legitimacy, integrity and rules will remain strong if we choose to wield them together.”
-Mark Carney
Seriously, WHEREVER you are in the world, I recommend watching all of Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney’s powerful & already famous speech at Davos.
Can’t underestimate its leadership importance.
Key line: “Middle powers must work together, because if we’re not at the table, we’re on the menu.”

Opinion: Governments that silence teachers hurt students
What these premiers don’t understand or are unwilling to acknowledge is that teacher strikes are rarely about pay alone. They are acts of advocacy for the conditions that make real learning possible.

WATCH: Seriously, if you’re following ANY bike-lane debate, you HAVE TO WATCH this news story. You actually can’t make this up. Ford claims without evidence that bike-lanes are bad for small business, and THE ACTUAL BUSINESS ASSOCIATION obliterates him with data.
Safe bike-lanes mean business.
Live and love.
Yup. Walk your kids to school if you can - walking (or cycling) to where you are going is a good life habit
Tonight at Sunnyside Dairy! Great classic country covers and farm fresh ice cream.
One of my core beliefs about urbanism is that change is scary at first but most of the time, people just get used to it or even come to appreciate it.
This applies to new bike lanes, denser housing developments, traffic calming, etc.
“Walkable cities allow you to access more amenities on foot for daily life, like going to school or work, buying ingredients for dinner…But that's not available to everyone, given many cities and suburbs in Canada and the U.S. have been designed to emphasize transport by car, urban planners say.”
The design of your city can help make you healthier, study finds.
“A new study in Nature found when people moved from less walkable U.S. cities to more walkable ones, they increased their levels of physical activity and saw health benefits.”

I happily admit that I'm much more connected to nature and wildlife around me when I bike for transportation.
I never got that in a car.
