I'm sad for the state of American democracy, and for every kid on that Utah campus who heard shots and feared for their lives. I'm not sad for Charlie Kirk, who believed yearly shooting deaths were worth it to preserve gun ownership, and who therefore quite literally died as he lived.

Insulin. Continuous Glucose Meters. Prescription in general.

I’m renewing every single prescription the second insurance lets me so that I might have a tiny chance to figure out what to do if tariffs impact supply chain, or if Trump/the MAGA Congress change coverage/cost limits.

People took all the wrong lessons from Tolkien (fantasy race determinism, long-prophesied return of the king, lore coming out your ears)

and none of the right ones (subversive heroes who succeed through failure, overwhelming grief at the passing of an enchanted world).

Romeo was the screenwriter for the Rankin-Bass Hobbit, as well as pretty much all of their Christmas specials… and he was also Santa in the little town where I grew up. So I grew up knowing that there were both books and film adaptations to look forward to, and expected to read and watch them

I think I was about 12 or 13 when I actually picked up the Hobbit. First adaptation I was aware of though would have been the Rankin-Bass Hobbit - I didn’t watch it early, because the rule in my house was that you had to read the 📖 and then you could watch the 🎥 - but I grew up knowing Romeo Muller
