After years of organizing, ACORN members secured Canada’s first maximum heat bylaw, requiring landlords to keep units below 26°C overnight, with stronger A/C rights and enforcement.
In Edinburgh, four landlords have been removed from the landlord register after sustained pressure and direct action from members of @living-rent.bsky.social. This is a clear sign that the tide is turning against landlords who thought they could get away with neglect, abuse, and illegal practices.
ACORN in Catania’s historic Civita neighborhood are organizing to stop a €4M “revitalization” project imposed without consultation and designed for cruise tourism, not residents.

Congrats to @living-rent.bsky.social on this major victory for working-class communities in Edinburgh. By organizing residents, they secured £5 million a year from the visitor levy to fund 472 new affordable homes. Tenants organize can make the tourist economy work for the people who sustain it.
Big Win for Gigwa India Delivery Drivers!
Platforms in India have rolled back the unsafe 10-minute delivery model after worker pressure. Riders say this is just the start. They are now demanding fair pay for every order, real safety protections, and a permanent system for collective dialogue.
In Delhi and Mumbai, toxic air shut down public works and schools but delivery workers were still forced to work. GIWA launched a strike demanding a pollution surcharge, masks, healthcare, and safety protections. The action disrupted deliveries by 30% and won major public support.

Our affiliate Acorn Coventry has stopped the eviction of member Abduobaiyda and his family.
Through collective action, they secured a private tenancy at the property, which means Abduobaiyda’s children can stay in their home and he has the accessible housing he needs.
