I own the set of the Wipers Times that Talbot House reproduced as a fundraiser. This little blurb was in the 1 February 1918 edition. I think we all know who the brunette infantry officer was…

There’s stuck and there’s Army stuck…
I’m still wondering how Wiseman got his iphone camera to even focus…
Anja concurs!
This is the high Cascades visible from the causeway near where I live on Fern Ridge reservoir. The snow-called mountains are 60 miles away!
I just finished John Garth’s brilliant biography of J.R.R. Tolkien in the Great War. This gem of a book opens a window into the wartime life of Middle Earth’s creator. Highly recommended!

Don’t forget the last two words of any sentence dealing with standing water in the Cascades; “and mosquitoes.”
Did you happen to know of Mark McMahon? He’s a retired soldier and was a trainer on the MGS for GDLS. We were in the same plt in the Blackhorse in the 80s.
The MGS. Yet another system with potential wrecked by the good idea fairy. I’m sure your model will hold up better than the originals.
This is what we’re reduced to with the Trump administration. I keep asking myself, “How did it come to this? Not once, but two times”
“A Gunner” by Colin Unwin Gill, 1919, #ImperialWarMuseum
Wearing the ribbons for the Distinguished Conduct Medal and 1914 Star, this is an Old Sweat in the #GreatWar’s final year. He had been serving since the dark times of the 1914 #BEF.

This haunting scene was repeated countless times in the GreatWar. after a battle on the #Somme in #1916, a soldier recovers the ID tags from his fallen mate.

Hoffentlich wird das Gleiche mit unserem nächsten Präsident in den USA geschehen.
I was very fortunate to find a beautiful #GreatWar trench mirror. This was privately purchased kit and my 1916 officer’s equipment lists a price or £1. According to the Bank of England, this is equivalent to £76.20 in 2026.

That’s a relief anyway…😂
But is s hot dog a sandwich? That’s the real question. I say yes. But there are still goobers who insist a hot dog isn’t a sandwich.
There’s a saying that there’s tired, and there’s army tired. This photo of #Canadian #soldiers in a frontline trench illustrate that old adage perfectly. Their faces are etched with the exhaustion of men in combat.

I know! I watched the splash down live and said to my wife, “It’s cool that they brought beach balls to the party.”
I can’t wait to hear Karl Urban say, “Ugh, What were you eatin’?” every time he skins a coyote.😅
That’s awesome! Did you buy it?
I don’t even LIKE baseball. I lived in Chicago for several years as a kid. My dad was a crazy Cubs fan and would drag me along to watch in the bleachers at Wrigley Field every stinking summer. I’m even thinking about getting a White Sox/Pope hat.
Red Army is another great book. I met Ralph Peters in Germany back in the 80s. If you haven’t read “The War in 2020”, put it on your list. Great piece of speculative fiction.
#Excalibur is such an epic film. I saw it for the first time at the cinema in 1981. It’s such an amazing piece of movie history. Last evening, I just finished a great program on YouTube about the real Arthur. Highly recommended.
If you could experience any video game again for the first time, what would it be?
Mass Effect I. It was engrossing, the soundtrack was epic, and the story sucked me in. Imho, the best video series of all time.

Roger that. Team Yankee is in a similar category. It isn’t in the same league as First Clash for illustrating TTPs, but still a cracking read.
Same reason why T-Rex hates hand grenades.
I have a copy of First Clash in my library. I bought it in 1985 at the Stars & Stripes bookstore at my kaserne in Germany. Great book!
