I think the greatest trick for getting good at creative work i know is - finish making as many mediocre things as possible. Just finish stuff, again and again. Share it or don’t, but put a bow on it, put it aside, make the next thing, repeat.

Wu Ying’s journey isn’t over yet! The First Stop will be available July 14, and The First War arrives November 10, 2026.

These hardcover editions have updated covers and interiors, along with the maps, world-building, martial arts, and spirit beasts you know from Book 1.

Preorders in my bio.

THRILLED @kickstarter.com has chosen Year’s Best Canadian F&SF: Volume 4 as a #ProjectWeLove. PWL status is Kickstarter's way of “highlighting brilliant examples of creativity.” Far be it from me to argue. ;)

We're $50 from our next stretch goal of interior art! Maybe YOUR pledge will put us over??

Obsessed with how this photo looks like someone has poorly photoshopped the moon onto a photo of earth.

A New York Times critic used AI to write his review – but criticism is deeply human Alex Preston has admitted to using AI to write a New York Times Book Review. He has not only embarrassed himself, but broken the trust of his readers.

I have a lot of respect for critics, but if you ever use the plagiarism machine to have opinions about a book for you, I will never stop making fun of you.

Bro got caught because his "review" stole whole chunks of a review from The Guardian. Because AI doesn't think! It just plagiarizes!

I worked hard to become a writer. And I enjoy being a writer. I'm not here to let techbro robots take that shit away from me.

I'd really love to experience a month that will be lost to the history books. A whole month. What paradise that would be.

The only thing I'm conflicted about on this is whether I am more jealous that Stanley Tucci got to hang out with the USA women's hockey team, or that the USA women's hockey team got to hang out with Stanley Tucci. 😄
