"Small boat crossings are still increasing" reports the BBC's flagship Radio 4 Today programme.

Editors could check BBC Verify, which reports they are down 35% year on year. The trend began Sept 2025, though crossings rose before that, but falling for over 6 months now if compared like with like.

Chinese car & battery company CATL now have a product which would allow a car to go from London to Barcelona on a single charge. And another that charges fully in 6.5 mins

Chinese reaping rewards from investing early & heavy in clean transition. Way ahead of the west now

OMFG I had to go and check that this ACTUALLY happened.

Since when does the BBC ever do chyrons with a political party's branding, rather than their own? Not to mention this is during a pre-election campaign purdah.

The media's day has been ruined by Olly Robbins, he didn't contradict anything Starmer said yesterday. The rest of the day and probably all bloody week will be filled with the media desperately trying to keep this b*llocks alive until polling day.

Mandelson's a self-serving scumbag - a huge gamble that he would assist UK-US relations. I don't blame Starmer for trying but it was clearly the wrong decision and he has apologised. I'm not a Starmer fan but am finding the feeding-frenzy OTT - and wildly hypocritical from Badenoch, Farage et al.

It was a terrible call - but at the time Starmer (and MANY others) thought the best way to deal with Trump was to flatter and court him. Wrong strategy!
Hate the Palantir-NHS contract too but this was signed in 2023 when Sunak was PM so think you're overstating Mandelson's influence here.

Spot on. And many agreed at the time. Faux outrage all round.

Starmer can't say why but it's obvious - he thought (& many agreed at the time) that a scumbag would be able to deal with the scumbag in the WH. Huge mistake but doesn't merit the faux outrage across the media. May appointing Johnson as FS when she knew he'd failed security checks is much worse IMO.

Starmer made a mistake over Mandelson. He wasn't (perhaps) officially told about the failed vetting but would have been aware of Mandelson's past.
Unlike the Tories whose governments were rotten with lies, deceit and (PPE) scandals that cost lives, this issue is not that, so can we please move on.

The Press knew. They laughed.

The Tories knew. They didn’t care.

All I see now is hypocrisy.

Tracking UK migration: Small boats, asylum hotels and visas Use our interactive tracker to explore the latest migration statistics for the UK

When the numbers were going up, the Channel boat crossings dominated BBC news & much of the media daily. They have fallen 34% in the first three months of this year, but you wouldn’t know it from the media coverage.

Norway is actually protecting the US by monitoring Russian nuclear weapons bases. If something serious happens, Norway will let us know, but Trump complains and scolds, trusting Putin more than his own old allies.

New North Sea drilling would barely reduce UK gas imports at all, data shows Exclusive: research finds Jackdaw field would provide only about 2% of current demand, and Rosebank only 1%

This is the reality. The rest is bullshit.

'Jackdaw field, one of the largest unexploited gasfields, would displace only 2% of the UK’s current imports of gas, which would leave the UK still almost entirely dependent on supplies from Norway and other sources.'
