Pablo Alcalde pabloalcaldef.wordpress.com has done it again!
I wanted an image showing my comicphilosophy.com cast of characters enjoying new comic book day, and Pablo nailed it as always.
I love how he drew Thomas Aquinas with a think tome, but Conficius clearly enjoys a good floppy. 😆
Best Star Trek crew, wrong answers only
Hmmm, maybe Ayn Rand and the Law of Identity, Ludwig Wittgenstein's famous fly-in-a-bottle analogy of philosophers trapped in their own thinking, and of course Friedrich Nietzsche’s concept of the Übermensch in appropriate Superman garb!
Eagerly awaiting the third volume of ACTION PHILOSOPHERS!
What a great group of contributors. Backed!
Thanks!
Great wrap-up for your first arc in this series - looking forward to the next one!

Curious about the changing ethics of Superman over the decades? I've tried to capture the main shifts in my Superman Ethics comics overview:

Fair enough, since Michaelangelo wasn't too subtle about God actually granting the gift of intellect - note the human brain outline (he knew his neuroanatomy well).
Of course, I can help but see it as the human brain invented god ...
Oh, and if it's not cheating: Fall of X. :)
I'm one of those (rare?) ones who preferred the ending over the beginning. Had a lot to say about the characters' ethics.
AXE Judgment Day (main series and tie-ins).
Liked Secret Invasion, Dark Reign, Secret Wars 2015 (except ending), Death of Doctor Strange, Blood Hunt.
Never liked original Secret Wars I & II main series, but some good tie-ins.
No worries, good things are worth waiting for. Sorry you had the experience though!
Couldn't agree more. Was a big fan of Slott's Spider-Boy run, and liked the introduction of Maka as a frenemy. Gronbekk was doing an excellent job expanding the character, and the first arc was very thoughtfully done (as you point out). Marvel really let the creative team down by canceling it early.
Well worth it at any price, I never miss an issue.

Comic Philosophy is one year old today! 🥳
You can read my thoughts about that here: comicphilosophy.com/opoz
It's been a fun ride - thanks to all the amazing work of comics creators. And all the support and words of encouragement I've received from the community, you are the best!

And here's the final multiverse representation by Pablo Alcade pabloalcaldef.wordpress.com
I really can't say enough positive things about Pablo's work. He's a pleasure to deal with, super creative and always responsive. He is available for commissions - highly recommended for your projects!

Pablo (pabloalcaldef.wordpress.com) continues his outstanding work coming up with creative images for ComicPhilosophy.com This one depicts the multiverse, with all the variants of the two superheroes he has created for me.
I particularly like the little guy in the background, on the far right!
Fabulous, can't wait to read them!
I'll be backing this one for sure!
Any chance a fourth series of Second Coming is in the works? 🙏🙏🙏
Caught up on the full run of Sleep by @zandercannon.bsky.social (final issue dropped last week). Not necessarily a conventional "happy" ending, but a deeply satisfying emotional one.
Thanks! I will be using "Sloppelgänger" (with due credit to @livewinning.com) for sure!
Despite maintaining an updated norobots.txt list for AI sites, I'm increasingly finding my comics ethics site linked-to by ChatGPT, Perplexity, and worse of all, Grok (and their BS "grokopedia", groan).
Thanks for doing this David. No one is better placed to attempt this, given your encyclopedic knowledge of the field.
I've worked with a lot of people around the world, and you can never assume (with all the anglicizations).
My own surname is French, so the 'e' at the end is silent. 🙂
I'll be shocked if this doesn't get nominated for an Eisner. What a masterful use of the medium by @zandercannon.bsky.social
Another great one David, so glad I picked this series up on your recommendation (one of my LCS still had them in stock). And SO glad I didn't have tortured wait between issues! What a finale!
I know - it even made it into one of my ethics post (FF overview, Reed entry). @ryannorth.ca brilliantly adapted the premise to explain Doom's success against the FF in his One World Under Doom event:

The first two volumes were a fun and informative read, I've just backed this third one!
Final full color Trolley Problem by pabloalcaldef.wordpress.com for my site. I love all of Pablo's flourishes (like people filming with their phones!).
FYI, @manruss.bsky.social did a great job exploring TP in his Superman: Space Age series with @allredmd.bsky.social
See: comicphilosophy.com/hx3l
Pablo (pabloalcaldef.wordpress.com) really captured a dynamic scene for the Trolley Problem!
comicphilosophy.com/hx3l
I love the classic half-toning-like shading he has applied for the bystanders (and birds!). Such a fun way to show how superheroes don't like zero-sum, no-win moral scenarios!

Latest sketch from the outstanding Pablo Alcalde pabloalcaldef.wordpress.com for Comic Philosophy. This is for my discussion of the Trolley Problem thought experiment:

As I explain on my Ethics 101, superheroes don't typically accept zero-sum, no-win scenarios! Coming soon.
That was a great read, thank you for writing it. And for digging deeper into the true history of these characters, and all the issues of these "legacy" appeals (ugh).
