Things that help calm the nervous system, quickly:
- Box breathing (in for 4, hold for 4, out for 4, hold for 4, repeat)
- Immerse your face in cold water (activates mammalian dive reflex)
- Humming (stimulates vagus nerve)
- Exercise (anything helps, outside even better)
- Impeachment and removal

I really miss the days when the taxi industry was unionized and regulated. Deregulation and the gutting of unions has made almost every aspect of day-to-day life worse for almost everybody.
I'm being somewhat facetious, but this replacement theory is so divorced from reality, it's easy to imagine that if someone were saying this on the street, they might be involiuntarily petitioned to a behavioral health facility.
I've been wondering lately how often psychosis gets brushed off as eccentricity or theory in rich and/or socially privileged people and at this time I'm thinking: A lot
Omg I'm starving and you just reminded me I have pierogi in the freezer. It won't be as good as yours, but thank you!
I'm dying that the New York Post just discovered hentai and they decided to use a photo of... Reba McEntire for the article?
Ruth Wilson Gilmore said, “No abolitionist who is a true abolitionist wants to save money. What we want is for the money to be spent, to enhance, and support human life so that it can flourish in a way that doesn’t destroy the planet. We’re not about cost-savings.“ Saving lives, not saving money.
tariffs happening for no reason and theyre making your life worse, secret police kidnapping people for no reason and making your life worse, firing thousands of government employees for no reason and making your life worse, going to war with iran for no reason and making your life worse
I genuinely love when people wear pants the same color as their skintone. The mild shock when you think someone's Donald Ducking in the checkout line is pretty enjoyable.

very excited to have my response included in the latest Boston Review forum against Democratic moderation! here it is, my best argument for why Dems shouldn't "moderate" on transgender rights & LGBTQ issues more generally (as they are inextricably linked): www.bostonreview.net/forum/how-no...
They need to take some liberal arts classes.
I think Trump and his car-full of clowns were installed to both distract and further erode people's trust in the government to make it easier for the true enemies of the American people (Heritage Foundation, et al) to dismantle our rights and common social investments behind the scenes.
The civil rights movement for Black people was entwined in the disability civil rights movement. We could not have gained disability rights without it. As Dr. King stated, "Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere."
As a social movements scholar, I absolutely love the diversity of tactics being developed by each city, reflecting their local flavor
Portland kept it weird with inflatable costumes
Chicago protected its street vendors by buying up their food each day
Charlotte chased ICE agents into the woods
Quinnipiac gave me unpublished data from new poll and it finds huge, huge, huge percentages of young and working class voters have seen video of Minneapolis shooting.
Majorities of both disapprove of ICE. Pundits are getting the working class/immigration wrong:

I was on the elevator at work today and someone said, "Group hug!"
Just finished Nine Goblins by @tkingfisher.com on audiobook and it's been a long time since I've felt so bereft over a book ending. I need so much more time with Sgt. Nessilka and crew. Some people just shouldn't be allowed to write novellas.
We are told that police need to be allowed to kill when they get scared but that everyone else must comport themselves perfectly or else they deserve to get whacked.
Delightful thread except for the ablist and unfunny party poopers
comparing Sloth to Miller/Trump/MAGA. Sloth is the kindest and the best. They need to go watch The Goonies stat and fix their souls.
Tubi is owned by Fox and they make money from your views, so it's a horse apiece.
Am I eating the candy that a stranger gave me in the subway? Yes.
No-strings-attached, zero-means-testing, no-questions-asked cash payouts have been proven, over and over again, to be the most effective form of charity/aid going.
It gets people in housing, and it saves the state money. We know this. It's fact, not theory.
I tried but I'll never be the kind of person who can sub out spaghetti squash for spaghetti and pretend that everything's okay.
Still from the first ever MST3K Experiment Crow, Joel, and Beeper are on the bridge of the Satellite of Love
Today in 1988 Mystery Science Theater 3000 premiered on KTMA in St. Paul Minnesota. #MST3K
Moments ago: tenants of the South Shore apartment building that federal immigration agents raided at the end of September held a presser to announce they're forming a tenants union.
They're demanding, among other things, sewage removal and heat and electricity restroration.
More updates TK.
It was okay for Mamdani to call Trump a fascist and also accuse him of funding genocide because none of that matters to capital.

In a country where the cost of living rises but wages don't, where illness can leave you in financial ruin, and where the young feel they have no chance at any upward mobility, 86 House Democrats joined Republicans to pass a resolution denouncing “the horrors of socialism.” trib.al/YmIjeGU
* The header "Vaccines do not cause autism" has not been removed due to an agreement with the chair of the U.S. Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee that it would remain on the CDC website.
Apparently RFK Jr. promised Senator Bill Cassidy that he wouldn’t remove the statement
“Vaccines do not cause autism” from the CDC website.
So what RFK Jr. did instead is spit in his face by leaving the statement there and adding this:
“It looks like it was an accident, but it’s still being investigated."
