28. daisies (1966) "When everything is being spoiled, be spoiled too." watched for the same class as koyaanisqatsi. as far as media intended as political critiques go, this is one of the most unique and creative ones i have ever seen, and it captivated me in ways that are difficult to describe without having seen the film yourself. it basically gives a middle finger to materialism and upper class living through a full hour of ditzy teenage girls living aimless, overly-indulgent lives in gradually anarchic ways. while engaging enough of a premise already, the ways it's shot and edited are SO interesting to me. randomly altering colors, rapidly interspersed close-ups, whatever the fuck was going on in the scissor scene, etc. the psychedelic aspects of such degrading scenes make them so thought-provoking and the combination of them impacted me in a way no other piece of media has. i love when creative minds deliver their message in weird and chaotic ways, and this one was a big hit for me. probably one of my favorite films i've seen. yass queens slay. 10/10

i guess the series is "finished" now which means it gets an entry here.
zach and michael's fucked up humor was definitely a good fit for [adult swim] but the realistic dialogue somehow gave it the most charm for me. stopped at a good point, but i'll miss it.
