Whether you prefer Real Hardware or Emulation, there should be ZERO barriers or gates to anyone with the willingness and curiosity to take the plunge.

The original experience is important, sure, but it isn't always to most accessible option for everyone.

Cs2 isn't even useful to me in any of that regard because I can't use sfm2. No custom maps because vrad3 requires a type of dgpu I don't have the money for.

A shame because sfm1 is borked on my system. Doesn't recognize my gpu properly and a good chunk of shaders are broken as a result.

I have no opinions because I didn't like playing csgo anyways lmao. Tried to run cs2, crashed on start, never touched it again.

As an active qa tester for p2ce who is also working on a mod running on p2ce I swap branches between qa and unstable frequently when testing things so I'm very familiar with how branches work and what does or doesn't stick around.

Yeah replacing csgo with cs2 was kinda big dumb dumb decision. I'm glad they're realizing that and fixing it but like. Still...

I could probably go ask now that I think about it. I know several of the P2CE and MM devs.

Steam tends to be pretty good at not keeping around game files when swapping branches and uninstalling. It generally only keeps around really small files, save data, and any stuff you yourself added such as mod files.

When swapping branches it should replace or remove any files that were downloaded by that branch. It usually shows as an update when swapping branches.

I don't think valve shipped cs2 with all the source 1 assets remaining in the same directories????

Notably I think gmod suffered from the replacement of csgo with cs2 so this should be solved by that.

Source 2 formats are completely different and unless Strata suddenly gained support for s2 formats that hasn't been talked about by any of the p2ce people (also a part of strata) I think that's probably because they just shipped the assets they used with mm. (Repost due to minor spelling mistake)

This is so that you can have both csgo and cs2 installed in steam so that source 1 mods and games can pull in csgo assets without locking you out of being able to play cs2
