OMFG I had to go and check that this ACTUALLY happened.
Since when does the BBC ever do chyrons with a political party's branding, rather than their own? Not to mention this is during a pre-election campaign purdah.

Taking care of elderly parents is a great way to develop a deep hatred for the modern world.
Miles Briggs, Scottish Conservative and Unionist, strikes absolute horror into my already anxious heart by claiming "More and more people across Scotland are voting Scottish Conservative on their Peach Ballot Paper" and yells in massive font "Ruth Davidson backs Miles Briggs". The main thrust of the argument is that he'll halt the perfectly reasonable measures to address parking problems owing to tourism and ridiculously oversized cars
@stephenkb.bsky.social Scottish Tories weaponising local parking fracas. Interesting that he refers to Ruth Davidson's support, rather than their current party leader, possibly because people have actually heard of her?
Activists built a ‘wind farm’ at Trump Turnberry in protest over the US President’s opposition to wind energy

Was telling mum I now needed to run at the pigeons, yelling and waving my arms, to get any reaction, and she yelled "DONKEYS!" at me, a la Tilda Swinton in David Copperfield. Suddenly saw myself as my neighbours must. Anyway, it's the only time I'm likely to warrant a TS comparison and I'll take it
Local woodpigeons have been joined by a load of feral pigeons and it's gone all county lines; rural ones seemed accidentally destructive (fat/lacking self-awareness), city brethren are sleek and hard-eyed as they strip the garden with deliberate malice
In the same manifesto, Palantir's owners argued that we need a national military draft, that soft power is over, and that we were too hard on Germany and Japan after World War II. I don't think that company should be allowed to exist anymore.
Joking aside, every proposal for age verification and ID verification is a proposal to give your data to Palantir, and that needs to be rammed home to every EU commission, EP and national politician every time they spout that rubbish.
It’s not that these people still exist. That’s just biology. It’s that they are still being paid to shit in their own hands & start clapping.
Bits of broken green glass, smoothed by the ocean, assembled into the very loose approximation of what might generously be accepted as a frog shape
I do realise that someone else might have taken this sea glass and made beautiful jewellery from it. Whereas I amused myself hugely by glueing it together to make a wonky sort-of frog.
Look out window: raining
Look at phone forecast: 0% chance of rain
Look out window again, in case my eyes are wrong
Also me: 'Why oh why do so many people trust machines over people, or even their own senses?'
Extremely normal and fine for a company to put this in a public statement

Hartzog said lawmakers need to create more specific rules tailored to the unique threat posed by the combination of facial recognition and nearly undetectable surveillance technology before it becomes ubiquitous. Those laws need to target not only people using the technology, but also the companies behind it, he said. “A lot of these conversations tend to focus on, ‘is it OK to use these glasses or this tool to surveil other people?’” he said. “What often gets lost in this conversation is, ‘is it OK for companies to design these really socially hostile tools in ways that will foreseeably lead to massive violations of privacy?’”

When Angela Rayner underpaid £40,000 in stamp duty, Richard Tice said it was "morally completely indefensible” and she should resign if she had “any moral decency”.
Now we learn he set up four shell companies that let him avoid paying £100,000 he owed in tax and to then transfer the cash to Reform
Microsoft and other US tech companies successfully lobbied the EU to hide the environmental toll of their data centers, Investigate Europe reports in collaboration with Tech Policy Press and other media partners.
Not once in the 80s, 90s or 00s do I recall a politician urging the public to embrace email, mobile phones, texting, two factor authentication, online banking, air fryers, or to replace all their cassette collection with a CD collection.
So forgive me if I smell a rat.
I dunno about y'all but I'm fairly sure we were sold out. Everybody involved needs to be held accountable for this, and the data centers need to be held not just to the same, but to higher environmental standards.

I'm just a girl*, standing in front of the Scottish Labour Party, asking them to advance positive policy proposals rather than keep banging on about blocking the SNP, especially to the extent of making me suspect you'd ally with Tories to do so

I fucking resent the idea that my life, as a disabled person, is considered a "cost", yet this bullshit is an "investment".
My modest proposal is if your uninsured car gets towed, instead of the government giving you a window to collect it before crushing it, they let you know they plan to sell the car on the open market before crushing it.
This is the question I constantly ask of pro-AI people, like I know someone who constantly talks about how integrated it is into his work now, and I ask them, "what are you going to do when the tools are no longer available because Anthropic goes bankrupt?"
Or, here's our quick guide.
REFORM: Manifestos pledging to ‘end the war on the car’ usually warrant no consideration, but our Curator persevered. Despite ‘bus corridors in major cities’, they’d ‘invest’ in everything (except active travel) so👎overall.
CONSERVATIVES: 'Ending the war on drivers';
Liz Kendall urges UK public to embrace Wayne, their annoying cousin who keeps turning up unannounced and saying stupid shit and is very difficult to shrug off
We've a war zone currently re paid parking in town centre. Tourism + carflation mean it's needed but the ANGER. Minibus service doing loops between the carparks, the High Street, and along the sea front would answer the WHAT ABOUT THE ELDERLY and KILLING THE SHOPS ire but apparently not on the cards
Admittedly bad with change myself but can often also be as development is one-sided? i.e. 'That dump / hospital is in a lousy place / state but won't be replaced by anything similar and nearest alternative is over an hour's drive away'. Accessible mid facility vs inaccessible good one?
Could MattGPT face scrutiny under the UK’s ‘proceeds of crime’ law? The British right is awash with money from Orban thinktanks…which Hungary’s new PM says was stolen.

As Orbán bites the dust, it’s worth remembering this old Farage confession in the clear. He always seems to be compelled to thank foreign entities for their help in damaging our national interests - it has echoes of a serial killer taunting the police.👇
