As we are publishing a book on Polarities at AutPress, they are fresh on my mind.
Most recently, the polarity of routine and novelty. The former gives us safety and relaxation, while the latter engages us creatively and inspires us to do new things.
We can include both when teaching a class.
So great. We recognize Zoe from Spoon Knife 10.
We are getting Spoon Knife 10 (Polarities) ready for you. In the meantime, you can get to know the series with Spoon Knife 9 (Numbers). Have fun with it.

Nice to see Hao C. Tran (we publish his memoirs).
Thank you so much! Yes, we put out a volume of Spoon Knife every year, with a new theme and pair of editors. Numbers (9) is ready from last year, and Polarities (10) is almost there.
That's right! Almost ready.
"I am beginning to work on a full-length novel based on the life of my mother and told from her perspective. Although it is focused on one person, the story can be about many Vietnamese women of her time."
Hao C. Tran, author of The Old Village Road

New Release: The Old Village Road by Hao C. Tran
We got to know Hao through his original memoir, Skinny Woman in a Straw Hat, and now it's time to go deeper into his return to Vietnam.
It's about heart, community, and how we show up for each other.

Super. We've got books for you.
Surrender is such a resonant theme. When we let go deeply, the true sources can flow in.
Bianca believes in #spirits & #souls because she can percieve them (visually & with other senses), but she doesn't have a soul herself. She worships no #gods, but she's become interested in Zen Buddhism & Taoism.

Bianca wears clothes for a lot of reasons: fitting in among humans; protection; love of fashion; hiding the worst of the scars.
Arok never wears clothes because he's protected by his mantis exoskeleton and because no one makes clothes for human-sized mantises.

We are delighted to share this interview with Hao about his first book, Skinny Woman in a Straw Hat. And you can stay tuned for a new book (and interview) later in the spring. He is a beautiful storyteller.

Weird Luck readers who are exceptionally perceptive may have noticed that Charles has the head of a penguin.
He's from a whole ancient clan of penguin-headed warriors, and we'll learn their origin story in Chapter 2.8!

The legends about Bianca's species––especially the more accurate ones––are so horrifying that most people think the entire species is just a myth invented to frighten the credulous. Even a lot of younger Reality Patrol agents don't believe in them.

"Most of us want to be more graceful and less awkward. But I don’t think the awkwardness of being human can ever be fully transcended. It might look that way when we see certain bodies on stages or movie screens, but there’s a lot of illusion involved in that."

"The writing that I’ve seen come out of it – the thinking and being that folx have created – is truly the kind of work that I want to support and help create. It’s among the most powerful, profound, and life-affirming work that I know of."
