As a regular volunteer at my local hospital it is clear to me that the NHS is supported in the most magnificent way by growing numbers of IENs. I shall be writing to @sianberry.bsky.social

Gladys Mae West obituary: mathematician who pioneered GPS technology She made key contributions to US cold-war science despite facing huge barriers as a Black woman.

No joke: I got angry hate mail today for writing an obituary of a Black woman scientist—because the person felt she did didn’t deserve the recognition.

Which just makes me want to share it again: www.nature.com/articles/d41...

As passengers we are being let down really badly and there is no way of making an effective complaint.

It is my firm belief that both Thameslink and Gatwick Express are benefitting from the fact that so many of their passengers have abandoned X and have therefore lost a platform for visible complaints

Please @sianberry.bsky.social is there anything you can do to call the train companies ‘serving’ Brighton to account. Service has been either non existent or abysmal since the New Year

Oh my goodness Shaun, I really value your work and I’m sorry that this is so much more than a news item for you. I share your admiration for the @mndassox.bsky.social and I hope that they and others continue to support your mother and all who love her.

Number of patients in UK waiting for lifesaving organ transplant at record high More than 8,000 people, including almost 300 children, are on waiting list, as NHS sees sharp drop in donors

It truly pains me to see this news, but sadly it backs up my longheld view that an opt out system was not the answer www.theguardian.com/society/2025...

Very interesting to look at the list of MPs who chose to vote against the decriminalisation of abortion.

So sorry for your loss - there’s no heartbreak quite like it. Forgive me if I’m too cowardly to read what you’ve written.

My dear friend’s niece, who in October developed sepsis when a Georgia hospital refused her a D&C after a miscarriage, will be taken off life support tomorrow.

I don’t know the names of the countless others who have suffered and will suffered because of anti-abortion laws.

But her name was Haley.

The obsession of #r4today regarding private school fees should be contrasted with their complete indifference regarding the 3,000 or so food banks now needed to feed the working poor.

I listened to the whole debate today and was struck by the mutual respect shown, the avoidance of irrelevant politicking (with the notable exception of Robert Jenrick) & the willingness of parliamentarians to take on the heavy responsibility asked of them. The conversation can continue.
