NOT NOW PACIFIC NUCLEAR TOMB
Remembering that on this day 7 years ago a 28 year old Australian man killed 51 people and injured 89 others at two mosques in Christchurch NZ.
Today is UN International Day to Combat Islamophobia. The date was chosen as the anniversary of Christchurch.
"Our trans siblings deserve our support and encouragement, endorsement and vindication now more than ever as the rising tide of transphobia threatens to engulf not just trans people but everybody who associates with them." Stephen Fry in a video message for Transmission
I know some disagree but someone like Stephen Fry changing his mind and doing a complete 180 after supporting She Who Must Not Be Named, is a good thing and is evidence that attitudes are changing.
They've run this piece at least once a week since about 1987.
If we made the green energy transition this war would be unthinkable and these authoritarians wouldn’t be in power — not in the US, not in Iran, not in Saudi Arabia, not in Russia. Hydrocarbons are killing our freedom and just plain killing us.
I couldn't go to a friend's birthday party because of my chronic fatigue. Today I couldn't go out because the lock on my front door broke, locking me into the house. Frankly, as a metaphor, it feels a bit on the nose

The day after we put the final touches on issues #88-91 of “Swamp Thing”, news broke about the passing of Tatjana Wood, the original colorist on the series. Tomorrow, March 2nd, would have been Tatjana’s 100th birthday. Let’s raise a glass to one of comics’ originals.
It’s funny if you call PayPal or visa lines and bring this up asking why they claim “adult illustrations” is against their regulations but betting on the death of kids is totally fine. They don’t have an answer.
In fact yall should call them at least once a day with this :)

Behind almost every university crisis:
1) shady real estate deals or even worse financial malfeasance
2) sports
And the solution is always to shrink the humanities, the reliable profit center

I am more and more convinced that when cis people want to debate whether trans people get human rights, the only correct response is "I don't treat whether or not people get human rights as a debate topic or hang around people who do" followed by leaving.
Kobo's response was "well we can give you your money back ig" but. I want to read the books I paid for. I want you to actually provide the goods AS ADVERTISED ON YOUR WEBSITE. Argh.
I'm an ex-publishing person who remembers when Tor announced that they would be selling their books DRM free, so I would have known this was wrong even *without* it being featured IN THE BOOKS THEMSELVES.
I just wanted to be able to put them on my non-kobo ereader. Goddammit.
If I didn't have chronic fatigue I'd writing a postcard. But the odds of me getting to the post office this week are slim.
On the other hand, Kobo have been completely useless about the fact they stuck DRM on a book that advertises itself as DRM free both on the website and in the book itself.
Their website gives three contact options: emails about Permissions, emails about requesting review copies, and a physical address for mail. So do I ask "St Martins Permissions" to pass on my request or annoy the publicity team by sending a question to their "review only" email?
I was hoping Tor Publishing was on Bluesky so I could ask them what the fuck was up with the two DRM-free books I bought having DRM on them, but it turns out they're still on Twitter. ugh.
A mockup of a Jeopardy board question that reads "Konami's depiction of Count Dracula iconically called this type of person "a miserable little pile of secrets"
Photo of Angus Taylor and Jane Hume at the Centre for Independent Studies that might be possibly the whitest two people ever captured together on camera at the whitest gathering of people ever assembled. Their smiles suggest they are either about to sell you some dodgy time-share or are to ask you whether you have hear the good news of this cult they have just joined.

So there is this added psychic damage of seeing young people who not only talk exactly like the nazi incel CSAM freaks of *your* youth, but the knowledge that Jeff Epstein is literally responsible for this.
He's why you shudder when you hear a 25 year old casually drop a "degenerate"
Measles is a bellwether. Because it’s the most contagious vaccine-preventable disease, when vaccination rates drop, it’s the first to start spreading.
Now we’ve got mumps rolling up.
Expect more.
This is just the beginning of RFK Jr.’s successful infectious disease reintroduction plan.
I contracted as a paid media strategist at agencies for many years, basically auditing efficiencies for PPC clients. Throughout 24-25, they axed me because various AI tools made my job “unnecessary”. Seeing this contextualizes the “how’ve you been” text I got from a former colleague last week lol
Digger (2003–2011) by Ursula Vernon Tales of small furry things taking on gods – and often winning – abound in Vernon's early works, and Digger is true to form. While it explores a strand of fantasy less rooted in violent spectacle than Eat God's usual fare, its world of talking statues, vampiric gourds and oracular slugs has much to offer, and many of its cast – including the titular protagonist – make a good models for the Folk.
Browsing my media collection today to see if there was anything worth a proper writeup in Eat God's "Inspirational Media" section that I'd overlooked, and I can't BELIEVE I forgot to include this one.
The article doesnt actually mention them "distancing" themselves from Palantir, only that prompts to give your ID to Persona were "a test, which has concluded"

Albanese’s comms crew have dropped his CtG speech to try and appear to be doing something so to reiterate: unless the cause is addressed by concrete measures to reduce numbers, powers, funding, and impunity for racist violence of police, nothing can change.
