"Your job is so fun," yes, but did you know I have to single handedly fight no fewer than sixth algorithms every day for the privilege of telling people to not set their beds on fire.

An infographic. It reads:

"Prototea's MAKE-A-PET"
"1: Choose a baby 'pet' from below"

(There are five slime-like creatures below this text, each of a different color and expression. The labels read, "Sad", "Happy", "Angry", "Neutral", "Tired".)

2: Draw a "Teen" and "Adult" version.

(Below this text there are 3 images, showing the 'Neutral' pet slowly changing into the head of a drum, with feet and two beady eyes.)

"3: Reply to this post with the sprites"

Below this is an example reply. it reads:
"This is Drumhead! I started with the Neutral pet. You can credit me with @prototea.bsky.social on Bluesky, and my Twitch handle is "prototea_vt". (Attached are the Drumhead images from above.)

The bottom features a size guide. The baby pet is 8 pixels tall and 10 pixels wide; the teen pet is 10 pixels tall max and 10 pixels wide max;
the adult pet is 12 pixels tall max and 12 pixels wide max.

In the bottom left corner is the 'Angry' baby pet with a speech bubble above him reading "HELP ME GROW UP!"

Streamlabs for sure, I've personally had a lot of luck with the Elgato products I've purchased over the years tho. Got a capture card and a stream deck from them and they both are great.

A sheet to design a pet. It features fields for the Artists' name, how the artist should be credited, and the artists' Twitch handle. A nametag in the top-right is empty, which can be filled with the Pet's name. The rest of the sheet is comprised of three grids of increasing size.

The first is smallest, with the outline of a slime pre-filled out, and the five available slime expressions above it for reference. The next two are entirely blank, and sized to be the maximum size the "Teen" and "Adult" pet forms can be.

Don't have a pixel art program, but still want to participate? No problem! I made this sheet you can draw over in any drawing program. You could even make your pet in MSPaint!

ABOUT

Q: What is this for?
A: I am making a livestream overlay for my streams, and one element is a Tamagotchi-esque system. These designs will be used for "pets" that grow as a viewer attends more streams (total, not concurrent.)

Q: How will I be credited?
A: You will be credited in the "About" section of my Twitch channel, as well as via a simple animated "credits" sequence at the end of streams. I will use the form of credit you give in your reply unless one is not specified, in which case I will use your Bluesky handle.

Q: Why include my Twitch handle?
A: If you include your Twitch handle, I believe I will be able to program the overlay such that you are guarenteed to get the Pet you designed, instead of being assigned one at random. That is pending any technical difficulties though, so no promises!

Itโ€™s inaccurate to say Mario is brave and Luigi is cowardly

Luigi is afraid of death, so he runs away from danger. Mario is afraid of living, so he runs towards death. Both brothers are cowards in their own way

In a time where money-minded people want you to offload your creativity, it's more important than ever to make things you are passionate about. The quality or fidelity does not matter.

Pro tip, have the forearm attack to the shoulder via a ball-joint. Vtuber models use fairly-uniform skeletons and assume a humanoid animation rig will just work out-of-the-box, so complicated robotic joints (via things like control bones) aren't able to be implemented (in most programs).

This was my old Vtuber character. Still love parts of the design, but man, those shoulders...

and it was too hard to get rid of them, because doing so messed with the shape language a lot. Very hard to design around.

Is this an intentional reference to the Zoobe bunny or no

favorite Zoobe clip as reference, I think about this one literally every time I am struggling on an art project

One of the big reasons I am moving from a robot Vtuber character to a human is because of shoulders specifically.

The only way to articulate shoulders well is just to not have anything on/over them otherwise it is a clipping nightmare.

A drawing of an arcade machine technician. He is sat a seat near to the floor, half-leaned into the opened bottom of an arcade machine.

Art of a new Vtuber persona. I'm sure you'll be seeing more of them one day!

The small subset of people that watch Vtubers but would wrinkle their nose at the thought of a furry are not people you want in your community anyways imo

I want to make a video one day about why mobile gaming is... like that.

There is an interview from someone involved with Vampire Survivors where they discuss their mobile port. They wanted to contract an external team to do it, but literally no one would make it without forced built-in ads.

Not trying to be mean because Toy Story Discourseโ„ข is so unserious, but this line of thinking is why sequels get made.
