I really wanted to believe that this “ending” was a set up for a new manga or whatever, but like, I know it isn’t. I just wanna have so much faith in Horikoshi, that I am gaslighting myself into thinking that something is going to com out of this.

It was a complete ass pull and it wouldn’t have felt like one if, EVEN IN THE EXTRA CHAPTER, he had taken the time to explain how Midoriya went from A to B, instead of just dropping that bomb on us and expect it to make sense.

I agree with you completely. I do love that Midoriya is a teacher and I do think he loves it. But it really feels like something is missing from this ending to make it work. I even feel sort of betrayed, ngl, because this is not what Horikoshi has been selling us for a whole decade. None of it is.

The main problem isn’t that Deku is a teacher. The problem is that there was zero build up for Deku to choose teaching over hero work. The build up was “I’m the author and I can do whatever I want” that is what people call “an ass pull” and from a literary perspective, that is BAD AND LAZY WRITING.

From a literary standpoint, that ending sucked ass. You can’t come up with some random crap in the last chapter that is going to make everything that happened 430 chapters ago be pointless.

And then introducing the suit gave people hope that Deku was going to continue chasing after the dream they’ve been reading about for 10 years.

But then nothing happened. He’s still a teacher because that’s what he wants, he’s happy, so… why even make the decisions to give him a suit?

Which makes me wonder, what was even the point of the super suit, if literally a month later he was gonna be like “nah, I’m a teacher.” Why even bother? Deku being a teacher, no hero suit, was good enough. That was his new way of being a hero: GOOD. GREAT. AWESOME. 10000/10.

Inko, HIS MOTHER, told him he wasn’t going back to UA and he said “it doesn’t have to be UA. I’ll go wherever, because I am gonna be a hero”. But now it’s “nah, I’m a teacher”.

He is given the chance to chase after it again and it pretty much sounds like he rejected it. This kid broke his arms, put his life in danger, worried his poor mother, all because he wanted to save people. He just couldn’t help it, his body would move on his own!

It makes A LOT of sense for him to decide to be a teacher because his dreams of being a pro hero not being as reachable as it once was. But he is literally given the chance to go after his dream again, a dream he’s had since he was four, a dream that should be impossible for him but it’s not anymore

However, this extra chapter… make it sound like Midoriya is not interested in heroics like that anymore. Like he has conformed to this new reality of his where he’s just a teacher, even though all he ever wanted was to save people with a smile of his face.

You have NO IDEA how much I love that Midoriya is a teacher. Him trying to help despite being quirkless, him trying to be a hero in his own way. That made him even more heroic in my eyes. How he’s willing to help even if it’s not in the way he always dreamed of, but who cares, he just wants to help.

I was satisfied with chapter 430 of MHA. I remember saying how I love that Deku is a teacher and how him helping others reach their dreams of being heroes makes him a hero as well. I also said that heroes aren’t only those who put bad guys in jail. I still stand by that.
